Guitar solo is stunning. A bit buzzy, early nineties sound but beautifully played. A classic and it cuts right through the mix. Key change into the solo is perfectly executed.

Right. Modulating a tritone. When does one ever hear that in pop music?! It's crazy. Gorgeous crazy, cause it somehow works. Also, a white aloof brit hiring Bernie Worrell and Bootsy f-in' Collins(!) as session musicians to back him up. It's all such a crazy post modern mashup of cliches (the typical 8-16 bar solo) but done so beautifully over the top. And then after the solo it just modulates back to the original key as if nothing happened... It is irony and nostalgia mixed together. Jaded and Honest into one. Pouring your heart out and not giving a shit. I love it.
