In the vast majority of situations, if you're staying, don't use E on the enemy jungle

about 400 games top yi here and i always get flamed in pre lobby, Only lose lane vs a good urgot, akali, kahm tench but destroy every other lane matchup, The only champ with more early damage is Gwen

dude, u/re using Q at the wrong time. Never use Q to enter the fight, just attack it regularly, when he's about to deal huge damage, then you have to escape it with Q.
