Two people who hate each other, but stay together for the money, interviewed by someone who doesn't care, but does it for the money. Very 90s.

It was to tell VHS recorders to stop recording if memory serves. Adblock 90's style.

It was called a “cue dot”. It was a signal to regional TV staff to prepare to play regional commercials. Was only seen on ITV and Channel 4 as these 2 stations both had regional advertising. It wasn’t originally meant to be seen by viewers but became a useful hint that the break was coming up.

I always thought that Clive Anderson was a twat. He insults people and then wonders why they don't respond when he tries to be friendly. He was basically the TV interviewer equivalent of a Jack Russell on Monkey Dust.

You are absolutely right. I had a whole tape of episodes, and I just guessed the date based on roughly when the tape was recorded, but I obviously didn't notice that reference, which must put this after February 1991, when the first series of The Mary Whitehouse Experience aired.

Clive Anderson was an odd fish, funny, intelligent but had a huuuuge ego and always seemed to comsider himself better than the guests and constantly talked over them. If you think this is bad, watch his interview with the Bee Gees, a masterclass on how not to do a chatshow interview.
@stevenmcnicoll50602 жыл бұрын
Anderson was a ghastly interviewer. He continues to practice his ignorant and miserably rude and awkward approach on BBC Radio 4’s Arts programme, Loose Ends. A show that soars when he is on holiday and guest presenters step in.

That was a very odd interview! Pretty awful from Clive. Clearly didn't want to interview them but he should have made some effort! Newman and Baddiel still got on at this point. It was later on their final tour that it went downhill. I saw Rob Newman on stage last night, still very funny but he's put on a few pounds!

Anderson skewered Baddiel while Newman sat back and let it happen. Sometimes you just have to let a wanker burn in public. Well done Newman.
