Just found Mr. Becker today, and I've spent a few hours in the rabbit-hole checking him out. Such a great player, but able to explain simply what he does...and what he does, is neither simple nor easy. The sign of a pro in any field is that they can explain what they do to people who are not in their field. I've picked up quite a few bits and pieces today, thanks! Going to check out his courses.

So this is a WM -L5 CT ? I can’t see the engraving on the tailpiece 🤔. They built the CT R.I. with 2 different scales 25 1/2 and 24 3/4 AND x-bracing and parallel bracing. My guess: it’s a ‘normal’ CT with 1 HB and logically paralel bracing. Still a gorgeous guitar! Kind regards WM

I use Becker's approach to improvising. I like to be able to hear the tune in a solo. If you play scales, you are just trying to not hit wrong notes . If you play out of chords or "changes" you will target the "Right" notes. If you listen to Louis Armstrong , every note is so right , that's how I wanna pay.

All these players are great…BUT the amp EQ and settings sound too reverby and boxy…. Too much reverb in general…not necessarily this one, but when the usual guy demos, the eq (IMO) does not do the guitar justice…. The playing does! Love the channel!

Also more than one way to skin a cat. He (and the Gibson) sound terrific but he also sounds like another jazzer playing formular "jazz". Every guitarist needs to realise that soon as you've mastered the basics, the sound you're creating is your sound, so work hard and be proud of it. Can't think of a better example than a MrJ Beck who's never stopped honing his own sound.
