The one thing Teddy didnt talk about was their resumes. Benavidez hasn't fought anybody. Bunch of tomatoe cans. Not his fault, but still true. Caleb Plant one punched Anthony Dirrell and took a brutal loss from Canelo. This guy is 100% dog. He hits like a Jericho Missile, and it took the hardest puncher in the division all night long to get this guy to fold. Benavidez can't hit hard enough to phase Plant, and no one has really checked DBs chin real good yet. I bet on the tested man. Caleb Plant hits this dude, and we see fear for the first time come over Benavidez, as he realizes there are levels to this s#it.

I was watching both of their footwork in the ring, and Caleb Plant is enormously more athletic. David follows guys around like a zombie. To some guys this equals pressure. To a guy with good footwork, it equals an easy night. And I think even if Plant doesn't win, Benavidez probably won't want a rematch.

One key thing David needs to do is to really punish Plant’s body. Plant moves a lot and if David punches that body, Plant ain’t moving no more. That’s when David can take advantage of the slow movement and completely annihilate Plant.

I think DB needs a lot of cooperation from his opponents, and he gets it with the level of competition he faces. DB maybe strong, but he doesn't have great power. Benavidez has hurt every single fighter he's ever got in the ring with in his pro career. Can't remember which opponent it was but it was a vet who'd been sparring partner in a lot of Champs camps and he fought David at 20 yrs old, afterwards the guy said "he's definitely the hardest puncher I've ever been in the ring with".

The most important reason I pick Benavidez is that he is bigger than Plant. The day before the fight they will have the weigh-in, they will both make the weight. The day of te fight, Benavidez will probably gain 10 to 15 pounds, while Plant will probably stay the same or come in no more than 170. Benavidez will be around 180 pounds. The 10 plus pounds will probably be the difference in the fight.

Ill say up front, I don't argue, this is just my opinion. David hasn't fought anyone good enough yet to deem him a monster. His lack of experience as an amateur and lack of experience fighting the elites will show in this fight. However i do think this fight will do for David what the canelo fight did for plant. David is an excellent fighter. It’s becoming a bit nauseating how everyone is saying “He’s a monster” as if the monsters and goliaths in boxing haven’t been defeated before. I think the fight will come down to these things: 1) Complete focus and attention to detail each round 2) Adjustments 3) Control of the ring and the emotions 4) body work by Caleb, along with movement and feints 5) DEFENSE. If David fights his fight and imposes his will, it may not be enough. I think he’ll have to muddy the waters and make this a rough Shawn Porter-ish fight in addition to utilizing his skill set in order to frustrate Caleb and set the trap for him to let his guard down and run into something. The thing is, Caleb has underrated defense. It should be good. Whoever shows cracks in their focus and mentality first, will lose.

The only good thing abt Plant is that he’s slick and quick with his hands and footwork. But it really depends on how long he’ll last and whether or not Benavidez will punish him to the body. Benavidez has to punish the body so he slows down and then go upstairs. Benavidez ain’t gonna do anything if he chases the head all the time.

Benavidez has not faced any true challenges yet. Plant will be that first challenge. Benavidez is really not that much bigger than Plant. There is no reach advantage. Neither Plant nor Benavidez have great power, neither have power on the level of Canelo. What Benavidez does have is a suffocating style and power punches in bunches that break down lesser boxers. However, Plant is mobile and if he stands his ground in spots and uses speed and angles he has a chance to win a decision. David is going be more active and come forward. The question is who will throw first?

If plant can press forward every now and then and avoid fighting on the backfoot the whole time, its gonna be closer than people think. But that’s easier said than done, benavidez is a bully in there.

Hey Teddy, love you and the show. I’m glad you were wrong about Benevidez vs Plant and when it would end. I made a bag off Benevidez on points. Plant was the best fighter David has fought, no one Benevidez fought has had defence IQ like Plant. I thought the rounds were a bit closer because Plant basically took the first half of the fight up to the 5th. I was happy David didn’t get the knockout, he needs to be humbled to become a better boxer, it was no Canelo finish. By the way, if David didn’t weight train this fight, I would’ve put my money on Plant winning. Did you hear him say this was the first fight he has ever lifted weights for?!?! 😂 he’s lucky he hasn’t fought Canelo yet. I predicted that Mike Tyson would lose to Evander Holyfield if the fight went over 5rds not body believed me I took bets on the fight and guess what I was right, Evander knocked him out, so I say that Benevidas will lose this fight as well, if the fight goes on over 7rds. he will wear Benevidas down and have him on the canvas in the 8th of 9th round, mark my words, Benevidas will be trying vehemently to destroy Plant with bombshells and if they aren't working he will become frustrated and angry and go into mistake mode, this will be his downfall, it will be either an uppercut or a hook that will start the process of destroying Benevidas in the later rounds & it will be a knockout !!!
