21.00 Hrs. Hi Racoon, thanks. I was around when this came out, I was 11. Yes it hits hard- the post Woodstock generation finds its feet, mostly in platforms with dangerously wide flares and Baggies inches above and there was still some innocence pre Watergate, refreshed political cynicism, the Three Day Week in the U.k. with free contraception and no AIDS. Oh God, I’m sounding nostalgic, better stop. Take care, Stu X

I thank my dad in heaven for exposing me to Bowie as a kid. I still remember him explaining how Bowie wrote this song for Mott the Hoople. I remember when it was used in the movie Juno and all my friends acted like it was a new song.

Bowie was awesome - glad to have been there when the 70's was unfolding and the music was unpolluted by the record companies. Seeing Bowie and so many others in the 70's was an unbelievable experience!!!

Though I'm nearly 60 (and I'd rather be 19 ), I was pleased to be around when he began. His music and personality grew up with time but his first albums are pure masterpieces and Ziggy Stardust and Halloween Jack brightened up my teenage life. 'God, I'm so pissed: I said 'Don't sing!!!!'. Haha

David Bowie's last public appearance in the UK. I had the privilege of seeing him twice live. First time in the 80s in Manchester on the Glass Spider tour then on my birthday 1990 at the National Bowl Milton Keynes on the Sound + Vision tour. Moral of the story is see artists when you can as they aren't going to be around forever. Much as we like to think they will be
