There’s a darker version of the album too….cool!! When we gonna get to hear that!?!?

I love that David Bowie is/was very open to collaborating with different types of artists/musicians and let them have inputs instead of having "do it my way or go home" kind of mentality. David Bowie is/was such a great musician and nice person. Much respect for this man
@catherinerosman2110Ай бұрын
Thanks for that indeed. David is still alive through his tremendous musical legacy. He was a visionary. He was like a stealth plane, absorbing all kinds of musical trends and moods to create his own universe. He was a visionary. He was unique and we'll always cherish his memory. RIP David and THANK YOU for your timeless legacy.

Hours is such a underrated album, I think its one of his best later albums.
@morningstar9233Ай бұрын
Lot of Bowie's later albums are underrated and they're among some of my favourites. I sometimes wonder how they'd have fared if Bowie had only started recording in say '95 and they weren't seen in the shadow of his legendary earlier albums.

I agree. The first three tracks on Hours are as good a first three tracks as on any Bowie album.

Underrated album, nobody ever rates this one very high, but I love it. Maybe that's just because it's the one I played the most during my formative years. Even if I try and be more objective about it, though, "Thursday's Child" always ranks as one of my absolute favorite Bowie songs.

There are some superb tracks on it which stand up against his best work. But some of the tracks are quite average unforunately. His follow up, Heathen had no weak tracks.

it's his weakest album of the 90s but i still liked it. i am intrigued to hear the other version of the album.

The first half of the album is excellent. I think he should have cut the track listing down like he did for Station and release the other songs as a bonus or b sides later on. Would have liked to have heard the dark version Reeves mentioned.
@DeckardWillАй бұрын
'Hours' is very unfairly treated by music journalists - it gets a lot of criticism for its production that is unwarranted. Taken for what it is, as opposed to in the shadow of Bowie's records with a much more experimental edge, every track has real songwriting craft and care behind it. This sounds to me like a more relaxed Bowie enjoying himself.

Please make and sell a replica of that notebook David was writing in! I love reading my Jim Henson books of a similar nature for inspiration and appreciation. Omikron would be amazing as an Augmented Reality game, I hope it gets remastered!

I remember being underwhelmed by the album but i loved 'Thursdays child' i thought it was fantastic - and still do. 'Something in the air' is great too
@nick28476Ай бұрын
When I bought it on release I felt it sounded rather overworked and produced. Interesting that they toyed with the original, darker version. Maybe that would have resonated more. The sleeve is great though.
@matc6221Ай бұрын
I think 'hours' is OK but it's a bit sterile and dry IMO. I remember the record company plugging it as a new Hunky Dory at the time🙄. Judging by all the alternatives mixes (including the game versions) it's like it got 'lost in the mix' to me. Although I do prefer the remixed versions of Abracadoo (ft Garson), Servive and Seven. Seven definitely sounds like a demo on the album. And that Brilliant Adventures track, no just no. Give me 1917, from the single of Thursdays Child, and Thursdays Child Rock Mix any day. Thought Reeves was remixing this for the last era box set, but it never came out (the Reeves remix not the box set)

Hours is fine. Nothing incredible. One of his safest albums but opened the way for the superior Heathen and Reality
@plechaimАй бұрын
The american psycho mix of something in the air and the game version of omikron (new angels of promise) and the single mix of survive are all superior to the album versions , the album to me sounds too stripped for me in places and sterile
@mangasky7Ай бұрын
Should've kept the album dark; should've really gone to town on the production, especially The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell, which is a lost classic; shouldn't have ruined that beautiful album cover image with that ugly as hell font and typography.
