Thanks very much for this , I recently acquired a D.B. 1490 with some of the selectamatic valve block valves stuck , & now I can see there are several bolts holding it to the front of the R.H. rockshaft box , so , rockshaft out first before valve block will come out , the black - haired guy with the glasses is a skilled man who obviously knows how to set these by feel as much as measurement . This type of skill is irreplaceable ! I did a factory tour at Meltham when it was still running , but couldn,t remember how to do this . Muchas Gracias Amigo .

thomas armstrong No they are not being manufactured anymore, in 1983 tractors were no longer built under the David Brown name, but the Case name. The Meltham factory, where all David Brown tractors had been built, was closed in 1988. David Brown was totaly absorbed into the Case IH brand. But spare parts are plentyful. You can get your spare parts from England, some even new. Check out www.davidbrownparts.com for example. Case and David Brown are technicly the same machines but with other badges, Tenneco (CASE division) bought DB because of the awesome hydraulics for it's time, and because of the financial troubles the company was facing and growing competition on the market, DB had no choise but to sell out. The contract lasted for roughly 10 years, 1972-1983.
