How the phuq Dr. Byrne managed to perform a live version of this is nothing short of extraordinary. Brilliant. Soooooooooooo tight, it's not true.

the original has such strong cadence, he just went with it. but the guitar pulls him off the exact but still, insanely good. Hope he don't try the exorcism one!

That was surprising. Different. Nice build up, gave me the chills at the end. This could have gone on longer- the intensity was getting epic.

Still into the sound of the studio version. Something about the preacher’s voice and the guitar together is so tonally satisfying. And the ‘girl’is a woman, for all those calling her a girl. And yes she does sing well with David Byrne. Wonder what happened for her after this recording.

I'm not a huge fan of Talking heads but I've always considered them a top notch band. David Byrne, on the other hand, is a genius at what he does. I've played this one from MLITBOG so many times. My favorite one from the album.

There is no comparisons. This was before sampling, actually inspired it. Kraftwerk, who were around before this, did interesting things too and some of their work shows up as samples in other artists work. Dense syncopated works can be found here and there but to this level, very few, if any.

Some people get more out of a song just sitting and grooving to it than by flailing around.
@seantyroler14124 жыл бұрын
It's a TV taping with cameras on tracks all around the seated audience including directly above their heads. I attended at least 10 of these tapings. If you wanted a seat, you had to sit still. I often preferred to try to get there just in time to NOT get a seat. If you were standing behind where the camera's were shooting you were free to bop around,

The whole album is. Growing up Catholic they used to say Holy Ghost before they updated it to the Holy Spirit. Bush of ghosts is a reference to Moses? Seems like a sly way of throwing all this into one album. So avant-garde and entertaining and still, forty years after the original release, timeless.
