David Byrne is so cool for doing this for a live TV performance instead of one of his own songs. Onyeabor is a legend.

No mention in the intro for The Ljadu Sisters? Disgraceful. Apart from that, what an amazing performance.

They should be mentioned, as well the other musicians did. Amazing song, can't get out of my head!
@allthingsbigandsmall4 жыл бұрын
Liam Tucker It is embarrassing that they weren't mentioned but in terms of performance, Byrnes rhythm guitar is just a mess and kind of ruins the collective effort when it's at it's worst. But kudos to him for spreading Onyeabors music

This is magnificent. When I first got my PC, it was a Win XP thingy and media player had Byrne's Like Humans do, that lead me into The Talking Heads. Then I kind of left that part of music only to discover St. Vincent, and out of nowhere Byrne was there again. Then I set aside St. Vincent and completely randomly, I stumble across the Willaim Onyeabor and here is Byrne waiting for me one more time. I want this Byrne situation to go on for many years.
@mattmoot7 жыл бұрын

My understanding of the story (via NPR): Mr Onyeabor was very hands-off with this whole resurgence of his music. He "found Jesus" and retired from music years ago. He was rather difficult to make contact with. Somehow Mr Byrne was able to secure permission to release the album, but its creator obviously wasn't going to help promote it.
