FactsVerse Presents: David Cassidy Regretted His One-Night Stand with Susan Day.
The Partridge Family was a popular show in the 70s that spurred David Cassidy to fame. His good looks and talented voice, amongst his many charming qualities, made him the fantasy of every American teenage girl at the time. It was no surprise that one of those girls happened to be none other than Susan Dey, his on-screen sister. Cassidy never saw Dey as the type of girl he would have a sexual desire towards. Instead, he saw her as the sister he never had.

Dey, on the other hand, was consumed soo much by her love for Cassidy that she refused to heed Shirley's advice. But when Cassidy began to realize the kind of relationship Dey was hoping to establish, he was bewildered. However, they ended up having an intimate affair, after which he became certain a romantic relationship with Dey wasn't what he wanted. As anticipated, he knew their affair would change the trajectory of their friendship. Dey was smart enough to understand that Cassidy wasn't going to reciprocate her feeling toward him. She then moved on with her life, and the two remained more or fewer friends.
But a bad move on Cassidy's side ruined their friendship. In 1994, Cassidy released his memoir entitled "C'mon, Get Happy... Fear and Loathing on the Partridge Family Bus," which detailed his life struggles. In his memoir, he details some sensitive information regarding his relationship with Dey. Dey felt betrayed and violated by the details that were revealed in the memoir. She was so upset that she nulled the friendship that existed between them. Cassidy sent a written apology to Dey, which she never responded to. In fact, it was reported that she did not keep in touch with the cast of the show.

He didn’t regret it ….really he was torn between liking someone and loving himself too much … then he regretted treating people badly …that’s why he drank …. He didn’t want to like her because he felt he would change as a person and he was scared … she was amazing ….sometimes you write hurtful things to justify your decision’s… but fact is she was special and he was tv in his own mind great but h7man being he lacked being special… I had a crush too briefl6 on his stardom thing … but I was 8 lol

Not much chance of that. I know I am not God. But, God is very particular. Since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God....Romans chapter 3 verse 23, and the wages of sin (all have earned) is death, Romans chapter 6 verse 23, we need a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, who said, in John chapter 14 verse 6 that He is the way, (not a way, like Oprah Winfrey seems to think). "I am the way, and the truth, and the life, and no one comes to the Father, but through Me." New American Standard Version. So, unless David Cassidy made a sincere confession of faith in Christ as his Savior and Lord before he died, well, he's in Hell for all eternity. I liked him just as much as anyone. I had his "Cherish" album, and several others Partridge Family "Shopping Bag", "Christmas" album, another one, too. It hurts to think he might be in Hell. But, I didn't hear about a deathbed conversion, only him saying, "so much wasted time". That's not a confession of faith in Christ., like character Kevin Sorbo played in the movie, "God's Not Dead". So, when someone dies like this, it should serve as a warning to those who are left behind that they need Christ while there is still time. Psalm 84 verse 10 The first line in this chapter states How lovely are Thy dwelling places, O LORD of hosts! WE SANG THAT IN (PUBLIC SCHOOL) CHORAL GROUP. Yes! Public School. 2 Peter 3:3-10. Don't put off accepting Christ as your Savior, because as James 4:14. says, You do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. New American Standard Version See parallel verses at biblehub for comparison.

I am four months younger than Susan Dey in real life and have been married to my wife for 48 years, so I believe it would be only proper to tell her that I was over the crush. Not that I ever had one on Susan Dey. When "The Partridge Family" was on TV, I was in high school around real females I was able to focus my attentions on. When the show ended I was already married to my much more gorgeously beautiful "Ali MacGraw" type bride.

My favorite memory of David was being on the show once. During a break we were at craft service and talking about Music. He sang a really good song on the previous episode and I asked him if he had written it. He said yes, and I told him that song was a hit and if they’re going to release it as a single. He thanked me and said: “Tim I have NO control over any of that.” I sensed his frustration. My memory is David was a mega star and was very open and kind to me…RIP David

You can tell that a guy really cares about you when they rather not sleep with you and is worried more about losing the friendship. I wish Susan could've seen it that way. It has always been the opposite with most of the males I grew up with. They would've preferred ruining the friendship just to get with me and when it wouldn't happen, they'd resentfully moved on. I would have loved to have a platonic relationship like the one David offered Susan. But at the same time, I know what's it like to have an unrequited love. It's painful. The heart wants what it wants. ❤️❤️❤️

I was IN LOVE WITH DAVID CASSIDY AS A KID!!!! A young girl at the time the PARTRIDGE FAMILY was on TV. I may have been about 11 or 12 years old. It came on Friday, I think at 8pm. We had choir rehearsal from 7-8pm. My church was right around the corner so I made it my business to hurry to the house to watch the show!!!! I loved the show but thought DAVID CASSIDY WAS THE MOST GOOD LOOKING, HANDSOME, FINE MAN, EXTREMELY ATTRACTIVE GUY IN THE WORLD!!!! I didn't want to miss a minute of seeing him on the show!!!! I liked everything about him!!! The way he acted, jokes he said, his mannerisms and of the way he sang and performed!!!! He played the oldest of the kids and was a teenager on the show. I remember thinking and counting how much older he was compared to me. I had the BIGGEST CRUSH EVER ON HIM!!! My aunt knew I was crazy about him and one evening she told me that that man is way older than you, he's playing a teenager on TV but he's a grown man!!!! I didn't like hearing that but I still kept my HUGE CRUSH ON HIM!!!! I still had a CRUSH ON HIM ALL MY YEARS, EVEN AS AN ADULT!!!! HE WAS ALWAYS STILL GORGEOUS TO ME!!!!! I STILL LOVE HIM AND AM A FAN!!!! I wanted to marry him!!! I was so devastated and sad when he passed away!!!! RIP DAVID!!!!! LOVE YOU!!!!⭐⭐🎉🎉🎉🎉❤🤍❤🤍❤🤍❤🏆🙂😘

Inger, The Partridge Family was originally on Friday nights at 8:30pm after The Brady Bunch on the ABC TV network for its first three seasons. During that time at that time slot, it was a ratings winner, but in its fourth and unintended final season, ABC switched it to Saturday nights at 8:00pm to compete against All in the Family on CBS and Emergency on NBC. As a result of this unneccessary, inexcusable and needless move, the ratings on the Partridge Family sank, which led to the series being canceled by ABC. Even before it left the air on ABC, the series first three seasons were already being rerun in syndication as I remember them being on an then independent TV station, which later became a FOX affiliate, in the area that I lived. The Partridge Family still remains one of my all time favorite classic TV shows as I have all four seasons on DVD. I also have all of the albums as well, including the three solo albums David made and released on Bell, alongside David Cassidy's Greatest Hits. I still don't have Cassidy Live yet, but still looking for it. Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed reading it.

If I remember correctly he was 19 when the Partridge family started - and so was 23 when it ended - so I guess yes technically an adult but barely - I do not recall them ever saying how old he actually was- certainly he was supposed to be in high school when the show started - so he was a little older than the keith character but not much at all.

Every teen male who watched the Partridge Family back when it aired wanted to be like David Cassidy. He had the look, charisma, attraction and even the "perfect hair" that every teenage guy desired. We would all think he had the makings of a perfect life. But sometimes those things can be more of a curse than a blessing. They never last. Age squeezes in and hair falls out. The looks go and booze replaces the void left by relationships that went south. Girls stop chasing and debt collectors start pursuing. Not good. But a lesson for us all. Things we think are most important in life are often not important at all when reality comes knocking.

First of all, he lied about having dementia. He was trying to cover up his alcohol addiction.. Second, I believe David's 3rd wife had something to do with David putting that info in the book. She was very jealous of Susan.. Susan's feeling for David were still obvious when he was a guest star on This Is Your Life, David Cassidy. She probably wanted Susan out of his life for good. She knew writing about their non sexual encounter would do it. Third, I am not so sure David did not have feelings for Susan. They way they look at each other in pics looks to me like there is more going on then David will admit..

@@GeminiladyJackson-xq6hc Really? I wished the guys i was dating looked at me the way David looked at Susan. Judging by the images captured of them it is clear they had a very deep connection and affection for one another; which he later betrayed. Also, as pointed out by another poster. His sexual outlook became somewhat skewed (probably due to the availability of girls/women) and pornogrified. All quite sad really because he was such a talent.

I swear, I can't remember a favorite episode because every scene that David was in made my young little heart go thump thump thump! I, along with every other young girl of that era, had the biggest crush on that boy that it wouldn't have mattered if he couldn't sing or act! It's sad that he went out on a bad note. I also would like to say that I feel for Susan, but I'm certain she's over it by now. As young women, we thought that we would just die when we had our hearts broken. I'm trying to convince my niece that this won't be her first or last heart break. It feels that way at the time and nobody can tell you different. You just have to keep keeping on until you finally do learn.

Now that Cassidy is gone, it would be interesting to hear her side of these years of no real communication with her former actors. To add, I was so in love with David Cassidy and remained in love with him even after the Partridge Family show went off the air. I had no idea it wouldn't be coming back on an remember waiting for it to come on as usual and it didn't. That's when I found out it had been canceled and wouldn't be coming on anymore. I think my Aunt broke the news to me. I was heartbroken that I wasn't going to see David Cassidy on TV anymore!!!! I also was heartbroken when I found out some years later that he had married actress Kay Lenz, I knew who she was from seeing her in TV movies. I was shocked that he wound up marrying her!!!!! I couldn't understand what could've made him choose her!!!! I mean, my thoughts were as FINE AS HE IS and out of all the women in the world, WHY HER???? Don't get me wrong, she wasn't ugly, I thought she was just OK looking, NOT PRETTY OR BEAUTIFUL!!!! I also thought, if he could marry her, he could marry me!!!!! I was still young, a teenager I believe at the time I found out they were married but I know I definitely didn't like it and didn't like him with her!!!! Years later I remember him saying at some point that when they met she was such an encouraging inspiration and support of him and his career and their relationship took off from there!!!! She recognized him as having great acting talent which in turn made him more confident and validated as a great actor with great talent!!!! He had never anyone acknowledge him for his acting skills, give him credit or compliment him on his acting abilities!!!!! He was a great performer and singer!!!!!! He was a HUGE TEEN IDOL!!!!! LOVED, ADORED AND A HUGE STAR WITH MANY, MANY FANS(ESPECIALLY GIRLS/WOMEN)WHO WERE CRAZY ABOUT HIM AND LOVED HIM, even though they didn't know him personally, I WAS ONE OF THEM!!!! STILL LOVE YOU DAVID CASSIDY!!!!! MANY KUDOS TO YOU FOR YOUR GREAT TALENT, CONTRIBUTIONS AND MEMORIES!!!! RIP 👏👏🔥🔥🏆🏆⭐⭐🎉🎉🎉🎉❤🤍❤😘😘🙂

The Partridge Family was my favorite childhood show. I started watching it when it first came out. My first true love was not David Cassidy, but Jeremy Gelbwaks (the first drummer). Of course I was only 8 years old when the show first aired so David didn't really turn me on. It broke my heart when he left the show and got replaced by Brian Forster. They didn't even have the decency to cast a dark haired boy to take his place...they had to put a blond. What always bothered me about that show was that the two little siblings rarely ever had speaking roles, they were only there for decoration. It was like they barely even existed.

Actions speak louder than words & it was definitely not a brother sister relationship. David could say in his book & deny it but just watch his This Is Your Life with Susan as a guest. She openly stated with David beside her they dated off & on & he agreed both of them grinning from ear to ear. It was all very obvious. The problem was David couldn't commit to anyone & Shirley knew this trying to protect Susan who I believe truly loved him & likely the true love of her life. Men seem to do this many times in relationships unfortunately.

When watching the later episodes of the show, one can see a romantic chemistry between them. At that time though David was very young and wanted the freedom of his own whims with women? One could only feel bad for her, because he was such a heartthrob, a physically gorgeous young man. Wonder what she thinks of it now, these years later?
