This is one of those albums that should have been a monster hit, but wasn't, because of Grunge. It also didn't help that Robert Plant was talking smack about David Coverdale. This album is pure genius. Grossly underrated album, much like many Hard Rock albums that got overlooked during the Grunge era.
@SingleTax Жыл бұрын
Aerosmith, another aging rock band, released their album, Get a Grip, that same year -- and it ended up selling far more copies than Coverdale/Page. Why? Not because the music was that much better, but because of *Alicia Silverstone.*
@1974ADHDer Жыл бұрын
@@SingleTax I wouldn't go that far, Alicia was virtually unknown at the time. Get A Grip was a hit because of the songs, producer of the album, cool videos, and because Aerosmith was already an established band with their two previous albums being monster hits.
@SingleTax Жыл бұрын
@@1974ADHDer And Coverdale and Page weren't "established"? Page in particular was especially well-known, as his name was practically synonymous with Zeppelin -- the most established rock band in the world at the time.

@@SingleTax Coverdale Page were not established as a band, only through previous bands, respectively. I'm well versed in both of their careers, I grew up on both of them. I know what I'm talking about. I've been in the music business for over 30 years.
@SingleTax Жыл бұрын
@@1974ADHDer Do you honestly believe Aerosmith's album would have been even half as successful without Alicia Silverstone? Same thing with White Snake. I don't care if you or anyone else has been in the music industry for 30, 40 or even 50 years, I have enough common sense to know that, without Tawny Kitaen, their self-titled album (released in '87) would not have been anywhere near as successful as it was. It might have sold a million copies, but not eight million.

In the meantime Coverdale page did one or two shows in Japan and no one was interested in putting on a tour, yeah I am sure Robert Plant was losing sleep over that

@@stephenallsman8913 I've always suspected this was Jimmy's clever (and perhaps even sadistic) way of telling Robert: "If you're too high & mighty to sing lead on all these songs I've written, fine, I'll just get *another* blonde front-man who can sing Whole Lotta Love better than you can now. The idea of this album was clear, to do an album that sounds like Led Zeppelin, but in 1993 David Coverdale sounded much better than Robert Plant of 1993, Robert Plant became a generic version of himself since he began his solo career and some people think and i am one of them that Robert Plant became a generic vocalist already in the days of Led Zeppelin, his best vocals in my humble opinion were on the debut album of LZ and the third album of LZ, this album of Coverdale/Page was good but there were not enough guitar solos by the legendary guitar master mr. Jimmy Page, thanks for sharing.

###--05/30/2024@8:50 PM EDT--It is obvious that even during the making of the video song, Jimmy has total control of the sound engineering boards, the slide buttons that are “moving backwards in time”, but any given sound engineer could not tell the difference, according to jimmy, (and I believe jimmy!.) , if time is moving backwards or forwards, but jimmy could----“They (slide buttons) don’t move on their own for nothing”. I do believe to this very day, that the only reason jimmy would even consider, remotely, using a double neck guitar, is if jimmy could completely control the sound board, even to a somewhat limited extent, “from afar, while playing the guitar,” if you will, so to speak

Just look at how Jimmy makes those buttons slide using his guitar, from afar, without touch, and with the brilliance of ease!!#, which also puts me in mind of something else Jimmy does very well####
