Yeah, in terms of comedic range, David Cross really nails it. Him and Bob Odenkirk have to be the most successful comedic duo in TV history, from "Mr. Show" to "Arrested", "Breaking Bad", "Better Call Saul", just crazy talented. But a special note for Jessica Walter, I think she's the real centerpiece of the show (beyond "straight man" Michael). She's the matriarch of a family whose patriarch is largely off the deep end, and Jessica occupies that role just perfectly, and highlights the roots of why this family is so insane XD. RIP Jessica, such an amazing swan song as an actress.

I've watched both, and no, the humor is pretty different with AD being more over the top at times. Silicon Valley also has more drama, and AD is pretty much joke after joke with an occasional sentimental moment thrown in. They're both great though!

The Fox Executive David is referring to is Gail Berman, the genius who was responsible for cancelling the show Firefly. Cross is exactly right - those three rules are so arbitrary (Is she trying to say that Groucho Marx wasn't funny?) - that there should always be someone higher up on the executive chain who can veto a lower exec's stupid whim or bias when necessary.

I'm male and personally, I dislike facial hair. I really couldn't be bothered if no facial hair was a rule. If I was in a position to set the rules in projects I'm funding, then I'd do something similar. Mostly 'cause of how some projects depict dwarves. I like dwarves and I dislike facial hair, so if an S.O.G. wanted to make it so that long beards are a racial trait of dwarves, a part of me would probably want to kick the person into a volcano and move on.
