One of the greatest modern thinkers of all time on quantum computers...

@10:25 well yeah DD, I would completely deny that proof is physical. For we mathematicians who live in the physical world our proofs are communicated physically, so in that sense they are physical. But there is more to the subjective consciousness and mind than mere physics. Or so I would believe. It's not a scientific belief. But it is likely true. You cannot divorce the notion of mathematical proof from a mind that understands the proof, and understanding is (again _likely_ ) not a wholly physical phenomenon.

I think this isnt what hes saying... afterall hes a quantum physicist, so his view of 'understanding' may exist in a quantum way across many universes at once, although physically located in your brain. Ive only seen proofs at high school, but proofs show that a statement and a series of logical transofmations from smaller self evident statements are equal... this is computation of is a exactly equal to b. This is how its physical. The basis of all maths logic has to start with one thing being true and one thing not true. A thing is there or not. Hence the physical basis of philosophy (what is and what isnt) and then maths (which is an abstraction of philosophy). What do you think?
