3:00 Funny that you mention that "One of the most awkward things in Doom is reworking your old spaces." In the source engine, the modifications between that point and 11:00 would have taken me at least the entire length of this video. Probably longer. There's a reason I like how easy Doom mapping is.

Duuuude, realising you've screwed up in Hammer after hours of work is so disheartening. I had a project I'd been on for weeks and messed up a bombsite on a CS map. Had to just delete half the map and start again.

finally after copying 10000000000000 maps from different games my creativity opened and I started making my own mappack

It's always fun to see other peoples' creative process, I might try and apply some of those lighting triangles in my maps as well from now on.

Hey David! I've taken a look at the theme-gawad and thought it would be a great idea to hop on board. Trouble is, Doomworld is being a bit difficult at the moment, so I can't register my interest. I'm gonna try to put together a MAP20 and submit it if the slot isn't taken by the time my account is up. Hopefully see you there, and thanks for re-igniting my passion for mapping!

1:03:00 the problem is the 2-sidded flag wasn't set. to make the level look more like a factory instead of a tekbase use more bronze and brick textures, and instead of decorating with silver boarded monitors and tekwald use pipes, gauges and the 4x4 black monitor texture. Pipewall2 works really well as a ceiling boarder texture like at 20:00 1:20:00 the door action raises the ceiling to 4 below the *LOWEST adjacent* ceiling. To make this setup work you need to either use the slower raise ceiling action or have a sector between the doors with an appropriate height.

I noticed while watching you build that you accidentally put the yellow door actions around the sector *next to the door* instead of the door itself. Unfortunate consequence of the doubling up while drawing it earlier. For the monster closet doors you made near the end, I think there's exactly one useful linedef action in this situation: 40 - W1 Ceiling to Highest Ceiling I've used that a lot on my current mapping project, as it lets you get around the "raise to lowest ceiling" limitations of door actions and do some interesting things.

Maybe when making such videos you could have somekinda window that shows ur key presses.

What about streaming whole mapping process, if you stream somewhere in general.

the thing is that you kinda focus way too much on shaping up rooms to make them look good instead of shaping them around the combat encounters like you barely spend any time on designing a good fight and just sort of placing monsters at random as you go along gameplay is always more important than graphics if gameplay sucks the graphics wouldnt matter

lol @ the ending. Also, why is this video tagged as minecraft?
