At 39:39 David says the following "it can be secured or purchased from your local Utrecht store" Wat is a Utrecht-store? I'm curious because i'm from Utrecht (Netherlands)

There were art supply stores that were named Utrecht. I bought a lot of paint and other supplies from them at the Oakland, California store in the 1990's. Another company has now taken them over with a different name.

Utrecht is a paint brand name. High quality paints and I imagine they still exist.

It is and it still exists. I still have quite a bit of it and is still good. I don't remember the name of the new owner but it was a large art supply company before it took over the paint. They changed the brand to theirs. @@harima36

The problem with acrylic paint versus oil is acrylic looses its luster/shine in a relatively short period of time - i can walk into lets say a modern museum where paintings have some time hanging on the wall and immediately tell its an oil verses an acrylic painting - oil holds its fresh look - acrylic dulls rapidly - Sean Scully, i believe, infuses lacquer paint into his process; i saw one of his documentary’s and he spoke of this process - don’t get me wrong acrylic holds its spontaneity, for lack of a better word - I’m just saying that’s all - I noticed this in my own work over the years when i switched from oils - I’ve actually considered going back to oil for the this reason - i might investigate lacquer - i will investigate “Magna” asap - never heard of it -

There are acrylic paints that do hold up over time, a huge range, including unique fluro paints that can all be intermixed. And not as toxic as working in oils, and won't shrink or curdle like impasto use oils. Also we can use acrylic clear sealers, both matte and gloss to help hold color intensity.

@@sonnycorbi4316 Depends on where we are. I was in N. Calif but have been in Australia for many years now. I use Golden and Utrecht..that has been taken over by another art materials and paint supplier now, Dick Blick, ..and Mattise, Liquitex, Taubmans, Rosco vivid fx, Nova, and others, The larger makers and suppliers have a vast range, such as Golden and now Blick, including titanium white, and Golden has high solid gel, interference, and so many colors and pigment and viscosity levels, the best paint. We can buy in gallons or smaller sizes. Nova has color range but has a weak medium that does not last well, a cheaper paint. Always check on pigment loads and get paint without a lot of chemical additives as found in several "house paints". We can also get primary color's and neutrals from standard acrylic paint makers at outlets by using medium and basic tones only, not card matching..just be careful to not get these overloaded as they will then crack later. Add matte or gloss mediums to reduce opaqueness and to control looseness with amount of water with any of it. I paint Abstract Expressionist, the most creatively free genre, and I need a lot of range to work with for that. I have never seen or used the acrylics talked about in the Washington DC color school video here but if you get that it may work well for you too. There have been a lot of advances in acrylics.

You can use a spray with brilliant varnish after you paint. I have use it and nobody can say if it is oil or acrylic.

I’ve done that - still, i miss the biomorphic richness of oil -

It was never called Washington DC Color School. Pleae use the correct wording. The Washington Corlor School Painters, coined from Andrew Hudson 1965 Washington Post art critic.

re "The Washington Color School." Why not email The National Gallery or David Gariff and alert them so they have an opportunity to respond by adding a note to the video description or perhaps add a short video explaining the mistake rather than attempt to embarrass them and elevate yourself? You asked "Pleae". rather than "Please". From all this we can gather... Nobody's perfect.
