Legend was the first fantasy book of it's kind that read, and I still dive back into a full Drenai saga reread every few years. Druss will forever be my one true hero. It makes me sad that so many booktubers still need to be turned onto Gemmell. Miss you, big man, hope you are resting well.

My hope is that someday, I can visit his grave and tell him - whether he hears it or not - how much his stories meant to me as a teenager and how he inspired me to write. His passing was a loss to the world of literature.

David truly was a Legend in his own right. His books are a big part of what really got me into reading, and I still often think of his passing. David passed away only a couple months before my own mother passed. They were the same age, and I didn't find out he was gone until my mother was already in the hospital. It was a very dark time for me and I found comfort, if only a little, by diving back into a re-read of Legend and Midnight Falcon. To this day, I can't read a David Gemmell novel without thinking of my mother... And it warms my heart. I will spend the rest of my life re-discovering and re-reading Gemmell's books.

I never knew the reason there were no films/TV shows of his work was because of his love of the characters and a fear of what Hollywood would do to em. Can't say I blame him lookin at other examples.

I met him at a talk & book signing in Borders decades ago. I thought he was brilliant before, then he mentioned this. As I considered all the awful book adaptions made into movies even then in the 90s, I thought how could anyone do justice to what lives in my own mind as Waylander, Druss, Rek and Dros Delnoch?! This also showed me he loved his characters so much more than Hollywood money. What a man!

What a great man! What a great writer! it's not too often that a writer appears who can draw you into his/her stories in the way that David Gemmell did. who could make you sit up and turn on the light at 3:00am because you just had to find out what happens next! A writer who could make you feel totally immersed in the world he created and make you totally and emotionally involved with his characters. It's kind of funny he said that his novels were like movies in his head because that is what they are like to read! It is so easy to get lost for hours between the pages of his book's. His books are among my most treasured possessions, and he is still the author I judge all other author's by! I am so glad I came across this video, thanks so much for the upload!

I learnt to read, by reading David’s books after my school failed by trying to get me to pick books like Buddies Song and Kels. What self respecting 14 year old wants to read that sort of stuff. I was completely illiterate before. He opened a world to me that I never new existed and probably kept me out of prison. Because of David I educated myself and now at fifty am a successful businessman who has flown all over the world, I own property in multiple countries and have a lovely family. He inspired me to take up my martial arts hobby at 16 which opened new doors. I absolutely love his works and this is the first time I’ve ever heard his voice. Chocked up. This brilliant man is in my heart and I’m not disappointed by what I’ve seen here. My only regret is that I was working late and missed meeting with him at a book signing in Stoke on Trent. Thank David so much

The Rigante series and Legend are the only ones that I have read from Gemmell, but I can easily say he will remain one of my favorite authors ever. He has succeeded splendidly in creating his own lively and tight writing style, describing beautiful scenery and vivid emotions that his characters experience and he does it with such ease To me, it is still lightly expressed when I say his writing style is splendid. It's so concise and still captivating, something which every author or any kind of writer should aim for
