i love david gilmour's playing style best, he makes every note sing, he gives every note enough time for it to express itself and then he comes with the bend and it's just a work of art

My grandpa couldn’t fall asleep since he lives in the retirement home. My sister gave him „On an Island“ and he fell asleep immediately. It works everytime. He is so thankful. Even some of the other old folks there love it…

And to think that this is a jam. It's better than many bands entire recorded output. David and Richard - joined at the soul.

This is one of those few times you see David playing a Les Paul.

Though we haven't ever seen it much, i'm quite sure he played some on those albums over the years, for texture here and there. Can't beat the sound of a Fender and Gibson together!

@@BubbaZen10 the solo in Another Brick in the Wall was the Les Paul with p90's - probably this one.

There are many guitar players totally shredding the guitar but Dave's one note is worth more than shredders whole life

I love Richard Wright's playing - it perfectly illustrates what he was to Dave and Pink Floyd. He's not a ghost that gets lost or glue - but skeleton. Thus allowing the music to hang on to him and frees up David. I'm glad they left us a marvelous catalog to enjoy. But what a pity there's to be no. R.I.P. Richard Wright

How awesome would it be to live next door to David Gilmour? You don't dare call the cops for a noise compliant when Gilmour and the band is jamming.

I always wondered if David Gilmour is a pure ear and feel player or if he consciously follows the chord changes and targets chord tones. This here convinced me that he definitely is following the chords closely in his soloing approach. The whole section from 1:50-2:20 in particular is a beautiful example of following the chords and choice of chord tones. The man knows his chords!

Dave sounds just as good with P-90s as he does with a Strat. I never saw a Strat outfitted with P-90s though Steve Morse’s old mutt Tele had a P-90 in its mix & it sounded great.

Absolutely! Rick's interventions are just brilliant... I always believed that Mr. Wright is the Pink Floyd's soul and atmosphere. It's sad that always Gilmour and Waters were in the imaginary front page of the fans in general, keeping his legacy off the radar.

This is why I say that Pink Floyd died with Rick. Anybody who thinks any different is deaf. This coming from a guitarist who claims Gilmour as his biggest influence.

Francisco Barraza . Its too good but a little short anyway this one and the first part of this jam must be on the division bell album as poles apart and wearing the inside put.

The reverb on that snare snap is a gift.This is a big sound you know the great Allen Parsens said in a chop off some rag I saw, that Gilmore was his own sound. Hands on metal and wood, with this guy gits it done in style I think.

So he's not playing a Strat. Gilmour could make great sound out of a cigar box and a few pieces of string. It's great that we get to hear him and the others express their musical ideas.
@alexplorer9 жыл бұрын
James Daniels Actually, the "Another Brick (Pt. 2)" solo was on a Goldtop like this one, only no Bigsby. Everyone assumes it's a Strat, but he's playing through P-90s. He plays lots of different guitars. The Tele on "Run Like Hell," of course, and in his early days. He plays a black Gretsch Duo Jet on some later era solo stuff and with McCartney. He had at least a couple Steinbergers too; I know he played one with Kate Bush on an awesome live version of "Running Up the Hill." Supposedly he used one on "Sorrow" as well. I couldn't even list all the acoustic stuff too, but maybe he has a cigar box guitar.
@julkitan30177 жыл бұрын
Isn't it actually this original LesPaul but with the bigsby kit added on it?
@alexplorer7 жыл бұрын
I thought that too, but apparently not. They're both vintage though. The original one was from '55 and the Bigsby one was from '56. You can read a bit about them on Gilmourish dot com.
@julkitan30177 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clearing that up mate!
@lapelcelery425 жыл бұрын
A few of Dave's great tones are p90s. On the original '55 - "Poles Apart", "Great Day for Freedom", "Brick 2" and a whole bunch of the stuff on the live Wall shows. And from his solo career, on the '56 with bigsby - the first solo on "On An Island", "Pocketful of Stones", "This Heaven" and "5am"
