There’s the Syd era, then there’s the Gilmour era tbh. Waters storytelling was only made palatable by Gilmours melodies and solos.

I’m a huge Gilmour fan, but without Waters lyrics and musical contribution from 72-77 there’s no peak Floyd period.

Great Gilmore. Very good document. The constant need to ignore Wright is surprising, even when talking about the good WYWH!!

Aahh.. I missed the Bib Harris and Norman Smith sections of the documentary but it was a wonderful piece all the same.. giving all sides of the story, as much as that is possible without going into all out war LOL. Thank you.

Cool doc. A shame that the Dark Side & Wish You Were Here era was never fully captured on film.

Why when they are talking about how great gilmours guitar was on dogs and then you show Doyle Bramhall playing it.

My thoughts exactly! There might not be any footage of him playing it but of all the footage to use they use a guy who is playing with Roger 🤨

Huh? Flaming was on Piper at the Gates of Dawn, not A Saucerful of Secrets.

It's sad how much Gilmour leaves out Roger Waters' name, especially because he would take things Gilmour would be messing with unseriously, and then write a song around and say "Hey, what's that?" but now (Rick Beato's interview), he says "It's usually other people who inquire" - yeah, Roger every time... Shine On You Crazy Diamond.. Wish You Were Here. Read interviews before 1985 and you'll see the full truth.

There is one other era everyone forgets and never mentions and that is the bob close era and dam they were good then as a band check out the bob close era of floyd David uses him on his solo albums as a back up still today in studio

Guitarist forget everything they got from Hendrix. NO ONE played ‘double stops’ rhythm blues chops like Hendrix. Hendrix listened to muddy waters, but took everything up another notch. Learn one song from axis bold as love. Not just intro complete one song ( even Noel Reddings (two chords) whimcycle bubble psych. Guitarist before Hendrix did not play (double stops) like Jimi. It seems the ones who do appreciate Hendrix are Guthrie govan, Shawnlane, Steve vai, Satriani, mahogany rush, uli jon Roth. All the elites. Who learned from axis bold as love. Because axis bold as love sucks. The original recording was stolen (back in 67 before its release) Mitch ,Noel and Jimi had to re-record most of tracks in ONE day. Mitch later said ‘the feel was gone’ . Had it been up to Jimi he would NOT released. The experience would’ve Waited until sound (feel) was right. But not chad, Chad believed everything recorded one take. Packaged sold. So people are happy with mediocrity, failure from lack of originality

Floyd didn't become Floyd until Gilmour joined. Respect to Barrett and all that but the Floyd that became the gamechanger didn't start until Echoes. Because I believe, of Gilmour.
