Gilmour is the only guitarist I've ever seen who can make a crown erupt with applause by playing only a couple of notes. This is what separates him from the rest in my eyes.

Claptons great, but I saw both live multiple times, and without a doubt, Gilmour tops him. Maybe skill wise their similiar, but feeling, yeah it’s not close

I've seen unknown guitar player playing 1st notes of songs and get applause. I'm a Gilmore fan and I've attracted attention just playing the 1st part of "Wish you were here " And other songs. Does that make me a amazing guitar player. I wish.

It takes a real man to go up on stage and play his heart out alone knowing he once had people to play with. Rest in peace all fallen members of Pink Floyd, you all have brought great music to the past generations and future alike. Pink Floyd is a one of a kind band, no one can say different.

sherp2u1 I agree with that. His effects were used to enhance the songs and to be creative... not to cover for lack of vocal skills etc. Pink Floyd is reknown for using a ton of effects, but yeah, not to compensate for lack of skill.

Just found out a bit ago that my uncle passed away yesterday. He was the cause of many of my influences today, including Pink Floyd. He was certainly one of a kind...this song is for him today. I am going to miss him and his uniqueness so very much. :*(
@stuarthaw89028 жыл бұрын
+Dawn Welch I'm sorry to hear about your loss, I hope the angelic music of David Gilmour can console you on this sad day. Your uncle sounds like a wonderful man for giving you such positive influences x
@dawnwelch65798 жыл бұрын
+Stuart Haw Oh gosh, yes...I first heard of Pink Floyd when "The Dark Side of the Moon" came out in 1973...I was probably not even 5 yet and I remember seeing the iconic album cover at his house! LOTS of rock at his house (which is now classic, I suppose), like Elton John, Supertramp, Queen... He was also a classic car rebuilder, mostly with the 50's Crown Victorias and such. Talented and beautiful work. I also watched my first Vincent Price movie at his house ("The Raven") and he was into Star Wars, comic books, Halloween, old-school monster flicks,...he was so laid-back and lots of fun! Back in 1975, he took his son (my cousin), my younger brother, and myself to the drive-in to see "Jaws" when it first came out back in 1975. I was 6 years old then...and have been a HUGE shark lover/fan ever since! The things I've mentioned are the things I love and appreciate so much today because of my uncle. My cousin/his son had just held a wonderful party just this past March 5th - we knew time was short (had been diagnosed with ALS just last year), but not this short. We didn't know less than 2 weeks later he'd be gone. There was no way I was going to miss that party! I had hand-written him a 4 1/2 page note telling him how much he meant to me. I got to read it to him and...even though he had lost his ability to speak, I could understand everything. I could tell my uncle remembered EVERYTHING I mentioned in the letter, even though we had not seen each other in ages (his cousin lives closer to me). I got to hug him lots. I got to tell him how much I loved him...but there will always be one more chance I will never get. I am so glad I have no regrets. I am so glad I did not miss that party. One word I described my uncle with in my letter to him? #LEGENDARY Sorry I've written so long...I'm really feeling for my cousin and his family so much now. I look to my cousin to see how awesome his father is, because he is just like his dad. Thanks for listening today...and for your kind words. EDIT: And by golly, I've been cranking out the David Gilmour/Pink Floyd and any other classic rock I can today...Gilmour is the freakin' BEST.

As it should be - really annoying is when people use their cells now to tape & record. Really???? Ugh. Oh well - what ya gonna do.
@ominousinc8 жыл бұрын
So annoying! Was at a festival a week ago and the people there were more concerned with taking the perfect selfie next to the exhibits rather than actually being in the moment enjoying the event and allowing others to enjoy it as well. All for a picture that fulfills the egocentric nature of that person. Are they going to frame any of them and put them on a wall in their home? In all likelihood they will wind up lost forever when their silly little phone dies, just like the moments they ruined while taking them.
@veefriend42018 жыл бұрын
It looks as if this is part of the mind control programs. Paying attention to how people spend their time; t.v./movies, reading/improvement, etc., etc. Seems to me if people are identifying with t.v. characters, they become them to a certain degree; mind control.

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun Shine on you crazy diamond Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky Shine on you crazy diamond You were caught in the crossfire of childhood and stardom Blown on the steel breeze Come on, you target for faraway laughter Come on, you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon Shine on you crazy diamond Threatened by shadows at night and exposed in the light Shine on you crazy diamond Well, you wore out your welcome with random precision Rode on the steel breeze Come on, you raver, you seer of visions Come on, you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine

One of the greatest guitar performances ever, and the sax was up there as well
@wolfbear79 ай бұрын
There's a saxophone in my soul. I was forced to stop playing because it took up too much room on the crowded bus to school where I was far ahead of all the other students and the teacher told me I had a natural ability and should keep playing. It was as if they removed part of my body and silenced my voice. I repressed those memories for decades but I'm going to find a sax at a pawn shop or online somewhere and start over. I'm 68 and I'm starting my life again, finally getting back surgery to give me my life back, but I mean ALL of it. I started playing my guitar again and I will find a tenor sax this time. I played alto when I was 12 but I have a bass voice and a different sax fits me now.

I remember seeing this and thinking I'd never see David Gilmour play life. He's a bit overweight here, not playing with any of the original members of PF, it's all acoustic (good nonetheless). I really thought this was the end of PF/David's career. Boy was I wrong. Just saw the Rattle the Lock tour. He looks better now, sounds better now, and still has it!
