I am pretty sure all of us Mellophones from Cadets of Bergen County 1992 can still play this. It was an Unbelievable joy to perform this show!

Still one of my favorite pieces of music I've ever played. (French Horn) The Cadets field version is amazing BTW.

This is a brutal piece of music. This one piece was the entire second set for our wind ensemble my junior year of college. It's even better when you're in the percussion section for it.

I've played this piece three times now. Once at High School level on Euphonium, twice in college on trombone. Definitely one of my favorite of all time. I have had this on repeat on numerous occasions. Listened probably 200 times easily. Thanks for uploading this!

I believe the track I got was off of The Symphonic Wind Music of David R. Holsinger: Volume 1. It's on Amazon. Also...I think I may have played with you at some point. My name is Bill and I played tuba for East Providence and was in the RIC Wind Ensemble in 1999/2000. I feel like we've worked together before. :D

I think this live performance is of the US Air Force Band. The precision and energy they brought to this difficult piece is amazing.

I played this last year in our band. Truly amazing. I'm actually writing a paper on this piece right now.

my marching band is doing this piece right now and it is pretty awesome. As of right now we are 2nd best march band in the state because of it in flight 2.

Hey, no worries. It's been a favorite of mine since high school. I would love to play it one day. :)

This a recording from when I was in the all eastern band in Baltimore in 1997..I was playing euphonium...awesome!!!

As in...the Cadets of Bergen County? They're magnificent. I saw them once at a show in Old Lyme, CT in 98 or 99...forgot which. :p I think the best part about them is that they march opposite everyone else. Their first step is on the right instead of the left. It sort of blew my mind a little bit when I noticed. That whole show was great. The Cadets, The Phantom Regiment, The Blue Devils...it was awesome.

*Sigh*, our band almost did this for contest! Sadly, we switched to American Faces before we'd even had a week with this amazing piece! Don't get me wrong, every Holsinger piece is amazing and unique, but this one made me want to practice much more so than American Faces did! (Would have played the Piccolo part, so many runs, it looked like so much fun!)

Does any one else think this is a live performance of the US Air Force Band, Washington DC, while on tour somewhere across America in the '90's?...besides 'b286guy' from 3 years ago?? (and not a recording of the U of Arkansas Wind Ensemble?)

I've had this ripped off the cd I mentioned in the comment from a few years back. While i've heard a few live versions, this one stil remains my favorite.

I don't play tuba so I can't accurately describe the difficulty, but I can tell you that the tubas have a half-a-measure 16th note run at around 11:23 and a two measure 16th note run at 12:45. The second one sounds kinda difficult.
@Doombah12 жыл бұрын
That's magnificent! :D Random question...do you have a good copy of it? Mine gets choppy in a few places because by the time I ripped it off the CD I had it on, it was scratched to hell and didn't rip correctly. Also: jealous that you got to play it! Doubly so because the Euphonium part sound like a lot of fun!

It's supposed to be Grade 5, so you probably won't have too much trouble. Given that it's Holsinger, however...i'm sure there will be a few parts in there that might be a little tough. :)

John Caputo This is from The Symphonic Wind Music of David R. Holsinger: Volume 1. It was recorded with the University of Arkansas Wind Ensemble in 1995. I do apologize for the few skips and bad bits. When I ripped the CD I had it on, it was quite scratched and sadly this is the one track that didn't make it off the CD in one piece.

+John Caputo If you are, you've been apart of every musical moment I've had. I will always look back on this to fit what I hear as a perfect Euphonium sound. Thank you John

@obsessivefreak333 What instrument do you play? High school or college?
@Doombah11 жыл бұрын
Yeah. Considering this was for my Old Republic guild (MLP: Friendship is Magic on the Harbinger server!), I figured i'd use a pony image. Where else in all of Equestria could this song represent? :D
@Doombah11 жыл бұрын
I've always cringed a little when I hear those. Not because they sound bad, but because I know just how difficult a run like that can be. Especially the one at the end of the piece. I've played a few pieces that have something similar...it was a sh*t show. :p

@billlange940810 жыл бұрын
Jack011051 Well, it's from a CD I had that was scratched a bit. I've since found better versions, but didn't feel the need to replace this. It served it's purpose when I needed it, and not I get a comment every few months. :p
