The best director EVER . He was obsessed with every aspect of filming and was a master. Love his quiet voice and diction. Knew his second wife Kay Walsh who was absolutely marvellous. He divorced her in 1950 to marry Ann Todd......big mistake !

Well YOU may think he's overrated but Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorcese, Stanley Kubrick and Christopher Nolan do not consider him overrated. They all regarded him as one of the greatest directors ever.

What can equal Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago? Nothing comes to mind. The sweeping epic and intimate portrayals.

This is subjective; I believe he is one of the top five directors to have lived. Although his philosophy was every frame could be its own individual picture/story, his ability to scrutinize screenplays is nearly unheralded. The dialogue and characters in LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, are on par with Lean’s smaller and intimate BRIEF ENCOUNTER.

id like to take back both statments because. i was toled saying somthings overated is saying ever one who thats it is wrong. i never thought of it like that before. so im sorry. also sorry if i came off as condesending in that last statment David leans is a skilled filmakers im just not madley inlove with his work as other people take care
