Gene Starwind CEO's don't work. They don't HAVE to. They get paid for doing the same shit that our "elected officials" do. It's called BULLSHITTING and making money off of the backs of people who actually WORK. Josh Bernstein is a shill for corporate power and can't stand the fact that there is a black President. End of argument.

This has always been Davids strength. Interviewing. He isn't the most charismatic commentator but he is so analytical his interviewing skills shine through everytime. The poor guest kept dodging the subject of labor participation. He should have come on the show to talk wages, ACA supposed horror stories or CEO labor downgrade upon return to the job market. Those subjects don't answer the labor participation calculation process David tried to break down.

Actually many CEOs have always been taking on 3-4 jobs, for a long time now. CEOs often represent multiple companies, what that get from 1 company is usually the same as 1 high paying normal job (with 1/3 the work time). So a CEO with 3 representative companies would normally have 3 times as much pay as a high paying employee but with the same work hours. The condition of course is the CEO need to be able to juggle multiple companies operations, which of course is indeed not an easy thing to do. So the guest is using these numbers in misleading ways, or may be he doesn't even understand how CEOs make their economy works, and just believed some BS himself. One should not have bias against CEOs nor normal employees when doing these conversation, but look at fact objectively. Because this is just how the economy runs and bias discussion does not help on either side at all

For the effect to spread that far and wide it takes time. Obama came in at its worse. It is just disappointing that Obama can't pull troops out of the middle east like he said he would. I guess the military officials advice him not to. Unless he wants to end up like JFK.

I'm at once appalled and ashamed that so many Americans will see this video and think Josh Bernstein (of whom I've never before heard) presented the better argument. He does exactly what a professional con man would do if forced into a real debate. That is, he would rely entirely on appeals to emotion, rhetorical tricks, and just yelling louder than the other guy to make up for the self evident fact that his argument -- ALL his arguments -- have no merit. David Pakman was at his very best here. I'm impressed. It's performances like this which might end up making David the quintessential voice of this generation. He is beginning to separate himself from his peers in the public discourse of reason. In my opinion, the poser was exposed here, and I don't mean David Pakman.
@SoldierGeneral64
@SoldierGeneral64 9 жыл бұрын
whyamimrpink78 Do you recognize that even though Pakman didn't not allow equal time for discussion that his opponent is blatantly ignorant on this subject. It does not take a genius to recognize that your can not include the base number of unemployment, unemployment # always present no matter economic state, and include that in unemployment statistics against Obama. There is always a minimum level of unemployment and then trying to include teenagers and young adults who are seeking an education into the unemployment category. Purely based on the definition if you are seeking additional education or currently enrolled within an education institution then you are not unemployed. Your official status is of a student.

I hear, anecdotally, about people who somehow are on SSD, despite either not or no longer being disabled, and I just wonder how the hell they managed to pull that off. If there are people who can easily dupe the disability system like this then they might make a lot more money teaching classes on that topic. Then again, they are probably already making millions off of SSD, right? :-p

It's actually pretty simple why unemployment would go down without net jobs being created (though there was net job creation). If the labor participation rate falls then the amount of unemployment will decline. It's the same reason why when a bunch of jobs are created and the unemployment ticks up because people are entering into the workforce from the sidelines. EDIT: By the way there's only about 200 million Americans between the age of 18 and 65. So this guy is trying to claim that half of the people at working age are not working. I find that unlikely. Besides one would think that the right wingers wouldn't a labor participation rate over 50% since "aren't the wives suppose to stay home and raise the kids?"

Josh's POV= CEOS, Executives, Managers, and Doctors aren't finding jobs that pay on the same level so they can feed their families. David's POV= The jobs market rates by jobs no matter if the person isn't finding a job on their level. It is a simple job that are counted. The issue with the current job market favors young people without families. It doesn't favor older people with families. The current job market wants young and fresh with no attachments. That is why many cannot find jobs on their pay level. Your best times in the corporate environment are in your 20s, early 30s and single. The corporate world is not kind to older adults with families. If you are in your 40s and 50s, you can forget finding another job that paid the same. You are on your way down in the corporate environment. Those are simoly the facts. What choices do you have? Don't live beyond your means. Save for a rainy day and purchases a home below your budget so you will not have to downsize if you are ever laid off. Capitalism way is to live beyond your means. Charge Charge Charge. Capitalism uses you up in your best years and once you get close to retirement, fuck you.

whyamimrpink78 So you don't think that social inequality can or should be resolved and that it even is desirable? In this case you must be rather tending towards fascism, where a strict seperation of classes is desired and where humans are seen as unequal to one another (lower class people have less rights than higher classes), with your birth to a certain class determining your path in life for the rest of it and also for all your children, as this is the polar opposite to socialism.
@kennykenevil57

whyamimrpink78"I may work hard but I will get the same kind of healthcare as my neighbor" Uh, yeah. That's how it is in my country. It's called universal healthcare. I don't see it affecting anyone's drive to work hard, so your argument is invalid. I work hard, but I want the homeless man down the street to have the same level of care that I receive, because I have this thing called empathy. You should try it.
@kennykenevil57
@kennykenevil57 9 жыл бұрын
whyamimrpink78 How would you not know if you are getting the best healthcare? The top rated countries in the world for health care all have some form of government run healthcare. There are also many countries with equal or greater population than the US that have universal healthcare. You think a single-payer system is oppression? Lol, such a childish view. I guess you assume all taxation is theft, huh? I guess you are okay with living in a society that turns people away and lets them die if they cannot afford to pay up front?
@Celrador
@Celrador 9 жыл бұрын
whyamimrpink78 "Fascism if by government force, similar to socialism." Bullshit. You don't even understand these political ideologies, as it seems. "In socialism people feel that the government can create goods and services out of nowhere" Bullshit. If a collective of people (the people of a country) want to manage themselves, they, atleast in our current time, need an apparatus (government) in order to do so. If then this collective of people wants to help the ones who have little and need the help, they do it by giving the money to the government, which then reinvests it towards the people who are less fortunate. Socialism is based around a redistribution of wealth (take from the rich and give the poor) and not around "creating money out of nothing". Socialism would also be the political ideology, that goes hand in hand with the Christian morales. I know, however, that in the US barely anyone has read or understands the Bible though. (The amount of people still believing in God and the average Republican, who claims to be a faithful Christian and yet acts in complete opposition to Christian teachings are just two of the many facts that support this claim.) "Taxation is theft if it isn't spent in a way to benefit society." So you think, that universal healthcare isn't benefitting society? Reducing the infant mortality rate, for example, or ensure that most of the people can actually survive things, that are survivable? That people, who, without healthcare, would end up on the streets due to the debt are suddenly able to keep on working after they got cared for? You HAVE a childish viewpoint. Or atleast a not very well thought-through one. And why are you actually bashing about social programs, but not about the fact, that your country is the biggest threat to peace? About all this spending of tax-payer money for a military that is constantly committing crimes against humanity, international crimes and warcrimes? This is far less beneficial for your country, than healthcare or other social programs would be. The incentive to work hard is to achieve a more luxurious life, by the way. Wealth and the class you get born in shouldn't determine your chances in life though. (And you are advocating exactly that. Without a redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor, which is socialism, you end up in a rigid class-system, in which a person from the lower class will never be able to reach a higher class and where the different classes will just go further and further apart as time goes by. [Which is part of the fascist ideologies, by the way...]) "I guess the founding fathers were children according to you." No, they weren't. They lived 238 years ago though. The constitution itself already is quite antiquated and parts of it are just completely obsolete and should be replaced by newer and more adequate formulations. This is how the world works... It changes over time. Having a 238 year old constitution isn't really helpful in such a world. This is also something, that conservatives don't understand... In an ever changing world, you need to be able to adapt constantly. I could criticize several other things you said aswell, but I can't be arsed. You don't seem to think your points through very well and you are even lacking some basic knowledge. (And you can, like so many Republicans love to do, even "insult" me as a Commie, as I am a German Marxist.)

David, I am 49, I don't consider myself liberal or conservative as, like most people (even the ones that don't admit it) my views can go either way, depending on the issue and the current zeitgeist. I tend to shy away from extremes in either direction and honestly, hang out with the working class. By trade, I am a sign maker (among other things). When I first saw your videos, I thought you to be too stuffy, and trying too hard to come off as professional. After watching this: YOU ROCK! You knew your shit and stood your ground. I love the way you attempted to keep it on topic as he jumped all over the place. *Well played!* Whether Mr. Bernstein has any point or not, I could not fully trust anything he says as he clearly shows a lack of understanding and research. He is great at avoiding answers though. Maybe he should try politics?

By his arguments he is saying that jobs should pay more than they do. I'm very lost. Since when do right wingers agree with raising the minimum wage. He also clearly doesn't understand how any of this works. Those people he's talking about, 90% May be in college while 10% of them are lazy mofos. I don't get why he thinks that's a viable argument. This isn't even a right wing thing. He's an idiot and it's not just because he's a right winger.

The guy had a point about temp jobs. But the business world makes those horrible choices. Temp jobs are a terrible trend and not something to ignore over a four year political cycle. Temp jobs are still raging and Trump is still elected. The same cycles will undoubtedly repeat so why not push for a better landscape for families. Adults will survive think about the kids. Poverty is no place for a child.
