Excellent talk, i just wish this could be delivered in front of huge audiences....so that humanity can start to walk the Bodhisattva civilisation path. We have great potentials if only.............if only we all wake up together.

What a wonderful treat to find a talk by David Loy. We are so lucky to have access to his precious wisdom, made more effective by the live delivery. HIs authoritative volume _Nonduality_ is the foremost scholarly source on the subject. What a profound read that is, although challenging in its scope.

No his book on non -duality is not the foremost scholarly book on the subject. He is highly biased against Advaita and makes disparaging claims against it.. one of which is that Advaita offers no proof, while the other is that it doesn’t concede the practical experience or duality. It is a heavily biased reading on the subject. The teaching of Advaita is that dualistic nature or experience is the cause of suffering or samsara. David knows this but never acknowledges this.

At 35:19, “How can I be fully enlightened unless everyone is also? “Is that the teachings of Mahayana Buddhism? Is one’s enlightenment then predicated on another’s ignorance ? This is in contradiction to the teaching of Shunyata and annatta. The former postulates that all phenomena or the five aggregates are essentially empty. If that be the case, then the notion of bodhisattva or as David says that one’s enlightenment is predicated on the same for everyone else, is a contradiction of the 2 key principles.

horrible. boring as hell. shallow, pretentious, a sales pitch through and through. staged, rehearsed.

I am sure it's not meant to be entertaining and its definitely not shallow. He does represent a Buddhist perspective though, which is evident in the title - difficult to do a long lecture without preparation. Why so critical?
