I worked with Verna Townsend on this short documentary director's study of David Lynch, my favorite director. I had never watched any of the behind-the-scenes or extra footage on the many DVDs of Lynch's work that I owned. I decided to go for it and screen-record enough of the clips to illustrate a vision of his genius directoral style.
We decided to recreate one of my favorite scenes of all time, which is "The Cowboy Scene" from Mulholland Drive. It captures so much about Lynch's perspective on Hollywood and introduces us to an otherworldly-and-terrifying image of the cowboy: the cowboy is such a huge archetype in our culture and I'm just in awe of what Lynch did with the scene.
