Before Tyler Perry, if anybody knows growing up going to church, Tamela Mann was with Kirk Franklin & The Family along with David. Now look at them. I listen to the Kirk Franklin CDs in the 90s and Tamelas vocals stand out. I commend David for acknowledging his depression. And he’s right, there is a stigma in the black community about therapy. I grew up in a house like that, and had to break the cycle. Good for him

But is he on medication? Back in the day it was primarily whites who were on antidepressants and antianxiety medications because they were the ones getting psychiatric therapy. NOW, over 90% of my patients are on some type of psychotropic drug...it a horrible racket.. And that's NOT deliverance IF you go to a therapist, go to one who is a Spirit filled born again believer, so that you can get true deliverance. love, peace and joy which only comes through JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR ♥️🙏🙏

Depression is so hard to deal with, its so tiring, it's like carrying a bag of bricks with you everywhere you go! It makes you think negatively, it makes it hard to do everything! even something as simple as washing dishes or going outside. Depression manifests when there's a core issue not being addressed, that's why therapy is so helpful so you can work out why you feel the way you do and then take action to remedy it!

“ depression manifest when there was a core issue not being addressed” 💯 the real estate statement I’ve ever heard of my life…. But when the person that’s making you depressed won’t even allow you to speak about it to even hear you out so that you can move forward and leave the depression where it is then it sticks! Why don’t people understand that sometimes all they have to do is listen that can help a person have a breakthrough and heal! I can’t wait till the day I can finally have peace and happiness and no longer be depressed I don’t even know what it feels like anymore to live without depression!! my baby‘s father has been so verbally abusive to me the past few years ever since we’ve had a child together but prior to that for so many years he was loving caring and a protector the child with me was what he wanted since then he’s done nothing but tear me down in every way possible I haven’t heard a kind word in years and I’m so broken behind it

@@lewisrich3515 it doesn't always have to be a demon . Anything can cause depression from not eating correctly, lack of hydrating with water constantly, Vitamin deficiency, not accepting that you can't do it all, having to constantly deal with toxic people esp if you're a passive person, food allergies, too much processed food, diet too high in sugar, lack of exercise esp if you have a combination of the following issues going on at once, food allergies, too much process food, a diet high sugar or fried food not mention constantly seeing men in your community die at the hands of police which would take an emotional toll on any BM even if you're a born again Christian BM.

I seriously know this feeling. I'm naturally a witty, bubbly person, but sometimes you're hiding a lot underneath. I've had depression for years and at times it felt as though I was constantly drowning. It was intermittent. I had good days and then suddenly slump into a deep, dark place. I'm a Gospel Singer, so often times singing is what got me through along side the grace of God. People definitely need to talk more openly about it, so that people know they're not alone. I pray for all those struggling with depression. Only you know how it feels when you go through it. I love David and Tamela as a couple. They're so relatable and likeable.

We as a Black community need to have honest conversations about mental health. A lot of the bad choices we make are because of internalized issues we don’t feel we have the bandwidth to tackle. We overeat, we drink, sometimes we do illicit drugs or get involved in counterproductive relationships because we don’t want to face the internal issues in ourselves. I’m here to tell you IT IS OKAY. We don’t have to keep it all on and put on the brave face and just March March on. Thank you David for sharing your story.

As one who is pregnant and suffering from it, I can say it’s a brain thing, I’ve been procrastinating about getting up to get a job since I quit my job when I found out I was expecting(job was too hard on my body). I want to do music, I’m 26 and I wanted another baby but it just feels like I’m running out of time, I thought I would be a big star by now and it messes my head up BAD. I expect too much from people who don’t really have my best interest and that’s also 1 of my biggest issues.

I literally used these exact words at my job…. I feel off. I had to take some time off for my mental health. I realized my job is a huge stressor in my life. I know how to put on the face. … but the more you pretend the deeper you go.

Mr Mann, you are so correct. You feel like you're drowning. I felt like I was in a big black hole. I tried committing suicide because I thought the bad blood coming out would make me new. I'm 61, been dealing with it since I was very young. Mental Health is a big issue but the bigger issue is our insurance doesn't cover most of it.i was a fixer and a person that wanted people to be happy. I was a nurse, worked 2 full time jobs, had a nervous breakdown then a bad divorce then brain surgery and stroke. So I can't work now. I look to God to help me through. But sometimes I need that extra help.

I applaud David Mann for being courageous enough to speak his truth. Tamela Mann is an amazing woman for sticking by him and wholeheartedly supporting him. They are an excellent example of what supporting your partner should look like. Mental health issues are REAL. If you aren’t strong enough SOME church people will inadvertently cause you to abort God’s true plan for your life and exit this world by your own hands. I experienced that after the death of my youngest son. I was emotionally overwhelmed and didn’t seek the counseling that I needed because I was encouraged to “pray and give it to God. I held on to needing to be here for my oldest son and pulled through it, depression seriously almost took me out of here.

We're all human, and honestly I don't see how any entertainer make it mentally with all the moving pieces in their career, and lives going here and there, leaving their family to go do project's for months, keeping marriages together even their own personal lives, and keeping their faith intact with the LORD for those who know Him my goodness that's a tall order. Wishing David Mann all the best, stay close to God He's also working through mental health providers for those who know Him. Tamela Mann In the Color Purple my Lord!! she's an excellent choice, and if she's singing anywhere in it, my Lord!!!! to God be the glory!!

Y’all are so adorable. 🥰 Yes sir!! Mental health is nothing to play with. So glad you got the help you needed and are doing better. 3 out of 4, including me, in my household are struggling with depression right now. This has been the hardest time in my life. My husband got lost in grief. My son is learning how to live with social anxiety and depression, and I literally fell out 4 times before I admitted to myself that I am not ok. I am the one who makes sure everyone is good. But I have to remember that I have to take care of me first and when I can’t…Jesus take the wheel! Blessings to all you.

Love this segment. Get out with my Faith in G-d and therapy so beautiful. I was in the same space one day in life when to see my parish Priest for confession and help, he gives me the best advice "please go and sick a Therapist I think you really need one" I was so surprisely happy and I think he safe my life that day. We always need to have to check how mental health is very important for the bodies and minds and even your life on earth

Ty for sharing! I thank GOd for therapy. I’m a fixer too but I was fixing ppl in a broken place. It was insanity for me to be so many things to everyone else and nothing to myself. The body of Christ needs to share more. We are not perfect and we can help ppl on our way to perfection if we share our journey. ❤️🕊

I appreciate him for telling his story. I'm currently going through this right now. Unfortunately the help isn't available without a price tag and the people who you think would be there all of a sudden becomes to busy to listen. Plus I'm a man so we aren't "suppose" to be down or in a rough spot we're just told man up and shake it off. I pray and pray and pray but I just can't seem to move my feet. I really hope I shake back and become me again especially for my kids. Also I want to let any else going through this to remain strong because this to shall pass
