Man, I've been playing country music for 40 years and I've NEVER heard anybody that plays more tastefully than you!! Your tone, phrasing, everything is just amazing!! What a wonderful friend to give you such a great present, too!! You're blessed!! Just curious, though...what do you think the differences were between the two pickups? I could hear a difference in the tone, but not much else...is one pickup a little hotter than the other?

Mike Lowe..... Billy Cooper from Orange, VA. is probably the Only other PS player that is equal to David in terms of his clarity of notes, tonality, timing, heart felt presence in the music that you "feel" in your very soul... just a Great player, as is David. Billy was also Bobby Helms' lead guitar player when they recorded "Jingle Bell Rock" in 1957.. and many other songs.

I can't understand the few comments claiming his Rains has a more full sound.... the Franklin is hands-down more smooth and full- especially on the top end. There is more reverb and/or delay effect on some of the Rains videos.... maybe that's what those people are hearing?

David Hartley is definitely number 1. There is a lot of great guitar players you have acoustic, rhythm, lead Bass, a six strings and 12 strings guitars and there's probably some guitars I missed you might say the mandolin the banjo kind of fall in the same category you have to pick them and then you have the steel guitar, question? I wonder how many would be or considered great if you had to play the steel guitar to be in that category I think somebody said that that thing is almost as hard to make as it is to play hope to hear some good feedback answers comments whatever and just in case there's some metal head Rock and roll that says you can't play rock with that thing when I was a kid I heard of a guy playing smoke on the water by deep purple on steel guitar looking for some good thoughts

Dave do forgive me but I think the original p/up has more body ! the new BL comes over a bit shrill (on my p.c. at least). How many more levers can F 'senior fit ? maybe a bank of automatic gear-box style ones with paddles like an F1 car ?? or overhead laser triggered pitch changers, just think what Jake-the -peg could do with an extra leg? no don't I am not serious ( you might go for a graft-on) you are far too good already.When does Anglia-ville become the capitol of steel playing officially?

What is the model of this Franklin ? I seen an S-10 on line go for $6000.00....why so expensive for a single neck ? I am a guitar player, never had a steel, but I want one so bad...I want to buy one that will stand the test of time, high quality, and have this tone or tone like your rains....Can you try to post some fast picking tunes like from the Dukes of Hazzard TV show ? Ever hear of JD Maness and what is your opinions on this guy's talent ? He apparently played the steel for this TV series

Hi David and John, this clip is so nice.. This guitar sounds so nice.. I'd have to say that the pickup replacement to my ears is a toss-up.. Just My Opinion, that is.. Well, Bass Player to Steel Guitars Players.. That Franklin Pickup is somewhat thicker in the lower mids.. The Bill Lawrence Pickup is sweet.. It would be nice to have the ability to switch the pickups .. Song-for-Song..
