Call me crazy but I think Timber when fully fit, should be re-positioned to play the Partey DM role this season. Especially in preparation for Partey's departure at the end of 24/25. Ben White is undroppable at RB. LB is likely Calafiori's to lose once he gets into the groove of things. Makes sense for Timber to be refashioned into a DM? 🤔

Ever since I thought of Timber as a DM I havent been able to get it out of my head. I think Timber is set to go beyond a Partey/Stones CB/DM even to be as versatile as Lahm. Timber is so much more than your every day CB/fullback midfield cover, he dances with the ball, has really good football iq, not afraid to pull off something crazy, having him, Rice and Calafiori to do that bulldozer press run up the pitch is gonna be class. He has also had a year to rethink his approach to fooball, studying others and been planning his role having big talks with Arteta and also finding some time in the U21 to stick out a bit more and show confidence. This is like a brand new signing only having taught him what to do a year prior.

Trossard starting ahead of M11 is very highly likely 💯 It’s an open secret that teams that drop too deep in a low block find joy against Martinelli than they do with Trossard who’s excellent in tight spaces and shoots/crosses on both feet. Martinelli spends too much time with his head down and rarely sees variations of options and eventually fails to punish teams with his head down. In this case, our opponents and how they’ll play against us 1st half and before we score a goal, will be key.

You’re right what you’re saying and I agree, the lesser teams do play a low block which nullifies M11 as a threat in previous seasons. However, there are also lots of team that want to play a high line and press us where Martinelli’s pace will trigger counter attacks against them. He’s probably the fastest player in our squad. Also one thing to remember is M11 is still young, he’s 23-24 I believe. He hasn’t hit his prime yet or his mental maturity. The Arsenal coaches will be telling him how he can improve his game and be better at cutting in and slowing his game down. How he can be more influential in games against teams with low blocks. He has so much potential he will become a more rounded player as he ages and I got faith we will see this next season.

Especially the part about M11 “slowing down” his game when the situation demands it, to magnify his effectiveness against low block teams. You’re right, he’s the fastest by far, and young, 22. Once he learns when to slow down and to explode into spaces, like he did the season before last, he’ll be a regular 1st team starter. Arteta talks a lot about improving players to help them do what they “never dreamed of” , and we see it.

As a top club chasing titles, our MF and forwards are not there yet. Rice, Odegarrd and Partey combo is cool IF they'd not get injured at all throughout the season.... would they? Same as the forward line. Sparks from Jesus wouldn't last 10 consecutive games and he'd in any case miss many chances, and Havertz isn't yet proven a 20+ aP goal striker. What are we waiting for?
