Honestly one of my biggest guitar heroes. He doesn't overplay, is a master of the emotional content of his playing, but also he uses quite harmonically dense ideas with triads and extensions, dissonance. More players should study David Pajo's playing.

Nice to see Steve Cropper mentioned. Though his guitar sound (dry and trebly Fender Telecaster) and playing (minimalist but melodic) were decidedly unhip by the late 60s, Cropper remained a hero to the heroes, with Stevie Wnwood, Steve Marriott, Ronnie Wood and even Jeff Beck amongst his fans (Cropper also produced Beck's album 'The Jeff Beck Group', aka 'The Orange Album'). Though best known for his time with the Stax label house band Booker T & the MGs, which is heard on classic soul hits by Sam & Dave, Wilson Picket, Don Covay, Isaac Hayes and Otis Redding, Cropper also co-penned many of those tunes including 'The Midnight Hour', '(Sitting In) The Dock of the Bay', 'Mr. Pitiful', '634-5789', 'Knock On Wood' and 'The Hunter', the latter being a hit for Albert King and the source of Led Zeppelin's 'How Many More Times'. Cropper was also indirectly responsible for Derek & the Dominos forming. He knew keyboardist/singer Bobby Whitlock from years prior, when Whitlock would hang around the Stax Studios then when Whitlock was with Delaney & Bonnie, whose debut album 'Home' was recorded at Stax with MGs as the backing band. When Whitlock eventually left D&B's band (which at times included Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Dave Mason, George Harrison, Leon Russell, the horn section for the Stones, etc.) it was Cropper who suggested he reconnect with Clapton, even buying a ticket to London for him. There are numerous unsung heroes in the music industry...people who have done so much to create or change the course of careers and trends. Steve Cropper - along with Leon Russell, Bill Graham and Al Kooper - is one of the most notable. Also nice to see Can get a mention. Though Kraftwerk are typically cited, and quite rightly so, as the band which legitimised electronic music in the rock world, before their arrival Can were flirting with that concepts albeit with a real band, not synthesisers. Definitely worth a listen, if only for the sake of experiencing them. I love 'What's In My Bag' because it introduces me to people like Mr. Pajo who I know nothing about. And I welcome the often unexpected choices. Viewing is and ejoyable, educational and inspirational experience. Thank you.

Can's not mainstream. C'mon. We're really going full internet era now and just going to act like because everyone has access to the most obscure stuff (and it's actually foisted on them by crappy algorithms from totally MAINSTREAM internet services, hence the "discovery" requires literally zero effort, creativity, ingenuity, determination, investment of time/energy/thought/research) ever that music at the level of Can is now going to be considered "obvious" and mainstream? That's really too much.
