I never really knew much about Mr. platt until very recently and this was such an eye opener. What he and his”team” did to that church is so transparently destructive, manipulative and prideful. Hiding behind PC speak intended to intimidate, isolating longstanding members, gaslighting (some of the worst I’ve ever seen), blatant lying are just some of the tactics of these wolves. The voter manipulation was almost laughably reminiscent of voter fraud we’ve all seen in civil elections. All of this was/is extremely grievous sin and wickedness used by Satan to destroy a congregation. They will be held accountable because Jesus Christ is very jealous for His elect! This doc. Is excellent.

And to say the itemized budget would be ~45 pages long as a reason not to provide that- what!? That may be a long list, but for the kind of money involved, it isn't like it wouldn't be worth having. Heck, even if the itemization was binned together a bit, such that it was 5-10 pages long, that would have at least given a reassuring gist of what it was going to, although I suppose knowing what it was going to would've been disastrous for the leadership.

I am hoping he gives me answer. It appears to me that what Platt and those elders did has to be made public, but I am not sure if that is right or not.

@@ReallyReformed97 It is absolutely right & good to expose this evil as clearly & fully as possible to the whole world. Right now secular movements of domination are having an adulterous affair with half the church, especially the most powerful successful ones. These movements hold to very different beliefs and commitments. They self-righteously practice lying to fulfilled their agendas & power. The culture knows this already, with a little effort. They know that Christianity is vulnerable because the cultural realities have changed radically. This is already known. What is not known is what the church will do about it, how it will play out. Secular organizations would have been better able to see God's writing on the walls, a writing clear with common sense truth. If church is a place where evil is more likely to have full rein, then the mentalities of niceness & self-protection or simply cowardliness have put us in chains.

I see these kinds of ruthless people rising up everywhere…those who give no second thought to manipulating, deceiving and lying for their own purposes. We need to pray against the spiritual forces that are at work and we need to pray for discernment and strength to stand for what’s right even if threatened or accused because unless our nation returns to God,this will only get worse. We need to repent of our own sin and then ask God what our part is in our fight against evil. Put on the armor, brothers and sisters, because we are in a battle!

I personally experienced the fall of this church when the single mom's ministry, which I had to work to get established, didn't spend ONE PENNY of the church's funds except to use a room in the church several times a month on a Sunday, was told that we were not a "viable mission" anymore and that we could not meet. I was told in an email. Such a crushing disgrace when you understand what was going on behind the scenes.

So MBC elders say children's ministry is not worth supporting, and even go so far as to cite Matthew 18 to oppress those who disagree? Maybe they should reread Mat 18:1-6 and the words Christ gave: "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea."

I was a lay person in SBC churches for 50+ years, and I can define the SBC better than the Executive Committee can?? It is an affiliation of INDEPENDENT Baptist churches; it is not a denomination - though everyone pretends and acts like it is, the national org, pastors, and church members. It formed for the sole purpose of pooling money and resources to spread the gospel, to have a greater impact together than each could have had separately. The SBC organization needs to dismantle. It isn’t needed anymore. With the Internet, it isn’t needed, but they are so hungry for power, influence, and money, that they can’t bear the thought of burying it. Every bureaucracy has its corruption, and the SBC is not exempt. They have even used congregants’ donations to argue in legal courts that the SBC is a hierarchical organization with control over SBC churches, akin to the Roman Catholic Church. THIS IS A LIE. I don’t know why churches are still in it, and I don’t know why individuals are still in SBC churches. You kill a monster by cutting off its head - the money. To SBC Church Members: If you insist on giving to your SBC church, designate your gifts to stay at the church, not going to the state or national conventions. It is clear that the MBC didn’t understand what the SBC is, but the SBC staff played word games. They should have directly addressed the intent of the member and admitted affiliation. Despicable. This is why I and many others are out of organized churches. They manipulate and only indoctrinate to the favored systematic. No Bible questions, no discussion. “Believe as I tell you to believe, or you’ll be disciplined and shunned.” Christendom is a complete mess. I’m so thankful I have God’s word and the Holy Spirit.

Nevertheless a power coop was planned and executed by evil people and evil movements and evil temptations & forces in a very large thriving organization. Years ago I heard David Platt speak a couple of times on You Tube. He seemed somewhat disingenuous to me so I never continued listening to him. I am not surprised by any of this. Still I feel somewhat shaken, watching this. I recently followed the story of another church body going through the same thing. Actually several church bodies, over the past 5 or so years. This is so far divorced from what the body of Christ should be, that it no longer is. I am not talking about the general congregation, I am referring to the leadership, elders, deacons, pastors. My heart aches for all these people represented here over these two video presentations, who have suffered the indignities and the hurt produced by David Platts take over. I feel sad for so many of the people who have stayed there, for what ever reason they do. This is one of the many reasons why I personally firmly believe we need to get back to smaller congregations, and house churches. We have to re think church, as in New testament early church. Large congregations often unwittingly invite the wolves to come in and take over for fame and gain, or to further an agenda by a larger organisation. David Platt is unquestionably one of those wolves, and he has a pack.

God is in complete control! David Platt is God's tool for winnowing the wheat from the chaff. The faithful are being scattered to grow the church, Christ's body, in smaller churches. I, like you, believe that smaller churches are better. There is swiftly coming the time when believers will have to meet in small, hidden congregations. @@jdavies212msu Globally exposing false teachers and wolves in the church is entirely biblical. It happens multiple times in the New Testament and the general sentiment is that these things need to be dealt with before they can cause damage like this. Platt should never have been in the pulpit in the first place. He should have never been given a leadership position. Anyone who was deceptive enough to conduct this and then justify hiding it is nothing more than a child of the father of lies. They need to repent.

Wow! What a story! Unbelievable! Riveting! Thank you Jon for posting Parts 1 and 2. What stood out to me is the courage of those who stood up against this evil regime. What Jeremiah and his wife did took a lot of boldness. Another thing that stood out to me is how weak David Platt is. Even though he makes a grand show like the Wizard of Oz, in reality, he is a vain, wicked man. Like it says in Psalm 1 about the ungodly: They are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. (One thing I'm left wondering which maybe I missed the details in Part 1......was Lon forced out? ) I hate that long time members have had their church stolen from them in such a traumatic, degrading way. I pray they are able to find healthy local churches to be a part of. I pray members who came in under David Platts leadership have their eyes open and begin to leave the church in droves. I pray justice is served, the truth prevails, and God is glorified!

You said yourself that Platt is wicked, so he and his team should be forced out. Why should a congregation that has appropriately invested so much in their church be the ones to leave? Members who have not received coherent answers to their questions should put their tithes and offerings "into escrow" until the unjust stewards are purged from the ranks of the administration. Members should fight for the sanctity of the church and expel the rot.

On a personal note, when I spoke with you at the Syracuse, IN Bible conference and shared what I was experiencing at that time, I did not see it then but I clearly see now that the leadership of the church I was attending was doing the exact same things, (except the financial issues), against me and other members of that church by trying to silence us, no public questions, bullying from the pulpit, etc. I also know that that pastor was/is a big Platt supporter.

My first awareness of MBC and Platt was after DJT’s visit. Platt’s bizarre behavior and the things that he was saying raised serious red flags. Without knowing anything about MBC or Platt, I was able to discern 1) This was not a healthy church. 2) Platt was giving off fraud vibes-a sly wolf. I wondered, was I the only person seeing through the charade? Thankfully, no. Thank you, LORD, that you are exposing hungry wolves, thieves and robbers, and purifying Your church. Thank you, Heavenly Father, for courageous men and women who choose not to run away from wicked men. This infiltration and takeover is happening across the US. And we wonder why people, who claim to be Christians, are confused and weighed down with sin and false doctrine. They know so little about the Word of God. God Bless John MacArthur for recently saying what needed to be said, when G3, Founders Ministries, Ligonier and others have failed to communicate the gravity of what Steve Lawson did so cleverly. If John MacArthur can be deceived, we’re all vulnerable to being devoured. This is a teachable moment and not a time for silence. John 10:12 He who is a hired hand and not a shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, and the wolf snatches them and scatters them.

One striking thing about this "church"'s "restoration process" is their weaponization of Matthew 18. This chapter talks about repentance and reconciliation when your brother/sister sins against you. In this case, it is evident that many church members aired grievances against the leadership board and expressed ways in which leadership sinned against the congregation. However, the same leadership board has turned around and put the onus of repentance on the *congregation*. Basically, they're saying, "we did nothing wrong, and we're going to interrogate you and demonize you in front of the whole church if we need to unless you bow to our commands." It is a sinister perversion of God's word, and one unfortunate tactic used by other churches. I speak from experience, having left a church where leadership sins against you and accuses you of being the one in the wrong. It is sickening. Lord, forgive me, for I am a wretched man. I praise you for your steadfast love and for rebuking me for my transgressions. All glory and honor are yours in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

As a Southern Baptist, it is embarrassing to see Ashley Clayton not be able to properly explain that the SBC is not a denomination. For a man in his role to be unable to do that with ease is unbelievable. I'm not defending Platt or SBC at all, just noting that it is true that SBC is not a denomination which means that the SBC does not have any authority over the churches that join the SBC. The SBC acts as a fellowship of churches that agree to join together through the cooperative program and do larger ministries and achieve larger goals. Again, I'm not defending the SBC, but Clayton should have easily been able to explain this.

Sure, and David Platt could have easily responded to the question that there are no churches in the SBC denomination since it's not a denomination. However, in as much as people call it a denomination, we're part of that denomination and are heavily vested in giving 100's of thousands of dollars to it from our slush fund, I mean he could have said that, because that clearly indicates they were in violation of the church's constitution at least in spirit if not in letter. David Platt is a great example of typical SBC leadership. His obfuscation and incessant gaslighting are signature SBC moves.

My guess is Platt was positioning himself to make a play for the SBC Presidency. Nothing else would explain his dirty backroom deals, the hefty donations and drive to make MBC the number one SBC Virginia church. It is a heavy play for money and power, and it is very rotten.

Affiliating with elements in the SBC is how Platt consolidates power and control over the money and focus of the church. He's a liberal and wants to run the church in a way that most of the congregation would be against if they knew everything he was doing.

Part 1 of the documentary explains that it is in violation of the Church's constitution. Even if there is nothing wrong in principle about being affiliated with the SBC the fact that the affiliation was covered up, denied, and all conducted under subterfuge makes it a violation of the principle found in the ninth commandment.

I attended MBC in the 80s and early 90s until I moved out of the DC Metro. Started when the church met at Langley High School. I still listen to Lon Solomon’s messages in his podcast. I have read David Platt’s Culture War book, and found it doctrinally and practically questionable. This documentary is interesting yet sad to me. The issues laid out from the perspective of the former members are troubling. The only hesitation I have is that the secular court has been brought into a dispute between Christian factions at MBC. It’s difficult to reconcile that with 1 Corinthians 6. I am skeptical of David Platt. Have been since reading his book and listening to his messages prior to Lon’s departure. It’s sad to see what has happened to MBC.

It "technically" isn't, but to use that as an out is both slimy and dishonest, by the standard of letting one's "No" be a no, rather than a, "well yes, but technically no."

Whether it is technically a denomination or not. It also, maybe especially, is deeply implicated in this documentary. They need to come clean and explain what happened. As an outsider, I see a church organization that should in no way be trusted by any honest person at all.

Obviously Platt’s actions are clearly unethical, and possibly illegal. But I also wonder why a constitutionally nondenominational church would hire a pastor that attended a SBC seminary, had pastored a SBC church, and had actually been the leader of the SBC International Missions Board. What were they thinking when they hired this dude in the first place? Had they not listened to his sermons online? Had they not read his book? He was problematic for many years before he was hired by this church. What he did after he was hired was shameful and un-Christian, but he should never have been hired in the first place.

Watching this documentary, especially part 2, sounds a lot like a Calvary Chapel I use to go to. One guy in control, surrounded by yes men, any kind of questioning about how things are done is met with hostility because you are not being loyal. We never had a congregational meeting and church discipline was never brought before the church because ( in my opinion) that would damage the image of the church. They did kicked people out of the church but it was all done hush hush. It will be interesting to see if Platt responds to this video.

It's an enormous undertaking to watch and retain hours of content. What is being said is very important and I wish someone with editing skills could summarize this and make it easy to digest.

First off, vengeance belongs to the lord. Second, my main contention is this: David Platt is currently not a saved member of God’s elect. You rightly recognise some fruits of his work. However, it is hard to see that Joseph’s brothers could be called godly men despite the fact that Joseph says that whilst they intended their acts for evil, God intended it for good. These were NOT godly men yet God was able to use their actions for His higher purpose. It would be wrong for Joseph’s brothers to claim that their actions weren’t inherently wrong simply because God so evidently turned them into ‘good fruits’. I’ll conclude with this: whilst David Platt intended his actions for evil, God will intend them for good.

The church made a mistake in wanting a “celebrity” pastor. Platt made a mistake in thinking he could just come in and do whatever he wanted. His bullying tactics didn’t work. And his CRT woke teachings are just a pathetic attempt to be culturally relevant. Platt should have stuck to his bread and butter missions messages, and never left the church he built himself in Alabama. The grass isn’t always greener. He found out the hard way. Let’s pray for MBC (or what’s left of it) and for David Platt to be humbled and repent.
