I was 12 and The Joe Cuba Sextet was playing at the Palladium. My uncle borrowed a dress from my older cousin and they put makeup on me so he and my dad could sneak me in to see Joe Cuba. I had the time of my life. I'm 66 now so this song is a lot older than 30 yrs old.

The World's Most Dangerous Band was the best band on late night television. Even more of a treat when Sanborn would sit in on Friday nights.

Caught his show at the Music Mill of Indianapolis in the spring of 2008. He hung out with fans during intermission. One of my best memories. Incredible music legacy, for sure.

@romanholder65564 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I'm not totally sure of the origins of these lyrics, but I have heard some classic jazz/blues stuff that has food-related lyrics (i.e. "Pass the Peas"). This is similar with the cornbread references, then later the swapping of the lyrics to "tofu, brown rice, and carrot juice". I think the words are not so relevant as the general feel of the tune, which the words just seem to compliment. This is from my very limited knowledge, though, so could have a totally intentional reasoning! Regardless, gotta love Sanborn!
