Saw David with Joey Defransisco in Salisbury MA a few years ago. What a great show. Had tickets to see him at Jimmy's Jazz club in Portsmouth NH on May 25. RIP Mr Sanborn you were an inspiration to so many of us Blessings and prayers to Alice, Jonathan and the grandchildren and Dave' s sisters. He's jamming with Hank, Joey and Miles, and I'm sure Phil Woods and Bird greeted him.

Beautiful tribute to a great musician that of yours. I was lucky enough myself to see David Sanborn at Getxo Jazz Festival, in Spain, back in 2010. On that occasion he also played alongside Joey DeFrancesco, a outstanding drummer, whose name I don't remember and a few other great musicians, unknown to me, who were also part of the ensemble. Great concert. I went to Portsmouth, NH, once, in the summer of 2012, such a beautiful spot, I had seafood for supper with friends at a local restaurant somewhere on the town's docks, a perfect town with a great vibe for live music, great atmosphere in the streets, probably the gorgeous July weather also contributed to the experience.. RIP Mr David Sanborn and Mr Joey De Francesco. Thank you for reaching.

IT'S David Sanborn... Your touch was light but haunting, too. Musical gymnastics that only David, or Marcus or Al Jarreau could do. Liquid sound, melting in my ear, speaking to my soul, calming many fears. This alto horn will 4ever live on, your ending just a new beginning you see. The crescendo moved me even as your triple tongue soothed me a musical maestro in the room. Yes, feeling your movement, its own type of prayer, David Sanborn the maestro, the master's on the air. Just like that... caught in a vibe, as you weaved musical stories, taking us on a musical ride. Your sound carries thru air waves.... Oh yea, the water waves too & I thank you, David Sanborn, for making your horn do just what it do! Oh, that lyrical expertise will continue to live thru each & every note David Sanborn breathed vision into. So rest beautiful traveler, as your spirit still flows thru... the middle C, the palm key too & each and every sharp & flat you introduced us to. David, you will never end because the music does transcend... permitting possibility always multiplied by three, from they to them to me ...deep into our perpetuity. You go, you stay, you never left...man it's David Sanborn, So much damn Respect! 💜 Kitty/ Philadelphia

What a beautiful tribute. I'd say it was "heartfelt" if it hadn't been so obviously AI generated. Were there no human fans capable of writing an acceptable tribute? Nonetheless, Sanborn left a legacy of music that will last forever. I will miss seeing him perform in a live concert, there was nothing like it.

The end of this obituary is a bit sharp. Another supercat hero is gone. Sanborn was certainly the one who introduced me to fusion jazz.
