Hi Monsieur Saxby, from where I live in France we do have a word for "ascot tie", it's a Lavallière, and, as you said, we call a tie a "cravate". I'm also using this message to thank you for all of your videos, it's very inspiring for me and I learn something new everytime, thanks again !

I love to wear a day cravat when the mood strikes me. lovely to see the older patterned ties - some a bit bold for my conservative taste, but fun none the less. Saxby's historical knowledge of men's 20th century style is second to none. Bravo!

Hey David , as a keen guitarist myself and if given the resources would be a slightly better dresser than I am , what’s the story behind the guitars 👍

Not a great cravat wearer, but I have one Tootal cravat which I can absolutely confirm is utterly useless as a cravat and constantly slips; take my advice, spend some money on a proper silk cravat.

I've heard that you can prevent slipping by tying a different knot in the cravat. You can use the Onassis knot, which is basically a four in hand, with the broad blade then brought up behind the back of the knot and over the front. I think you can probably find this on KZbin. Might be worth a try, if you want to make use of the cravat.
