I had the chance to meet him in the Vienna airport, very very randomly, and have to say he is the nicest guy, we had the same flight to LA and he even offered me a ride at the final destination. Such a mensch; if only my mother hadn't been waiting for me I would have of course said yes... Everything he said here rings true to me. Wish him all the best.

Thanks for sharing your story. Watching different interviews of him over the years etc. and seeing him in all these roles and off-camera it doesn't surprise me reading your description of him. He does seem like a decent guy. Not a surprise either that the entire cast of Friends had a great connection on set. There was not one rotten apple. They were really the missing pieces in the jigsaw puzzle making it perfect.

Adding to this, I ran a fansite for him for years towards the end of Friends, which he reached out to me to personally thank me for. I met him this year, over a decade after he sent that email and he said he still remembered the site (after searching his memory for a second 🤪). Such a sweet guy.

@@Kai_Uchiha19😂 Nah its hair plugs plus L'oréal. Not judging him: men have the right to be insecure about their appearances too, if cosmetics and surgery can help why not? If I were rich, I would do so much work😂 Also it is especially harder for a huge international star like Schwimmer, who was idolize for his youth and "beauty/type". So recognizing that, yes, obviously David Schwimmer uses cosmetics and esthetic surgery, is not mocking/judging, etc... it just being honest with the reality we are living in, and how it shows on the faces of our aging stars.

@RobinHood-hk5dk8 жыл бұрын
A hugely talented actor and director. David told the story of he insisted on a role where he could contribute and collaborate, unlike the Monty series he played before. All 6 actors had artistic freedom to contribute lines and ideas on Friends. If he had not become famous I am sure he would have put the same effort into local theatre parts. Fame is something that David has clearly struggled with as most actors do. Ruby Wax once said only Goldie Hawn was comfortable with her fame and Ruby has interviewed hundreds of celebrities and they all struggle too with public image. It is a shame David has not done more movie acting since Friends as he is a very good comedy actor. But, thanks a million David, for all your work so far whether it was a big success or not. After all, theatre acting and directing just as important.
@dvchel5 жыл бұрын
@Robin Hood Absolutely true what you state. Even the writers had *no* problem admitting that ideas for certain storylines in Friends were taken from the real-life experiences of the six actors. Take for example in season four when Jennifer's character was dating Joshua, whose actor was then her real-life boyfriend and broke up around the same time as they did in the show. Another one is the fertility issue of Courteney's character in season nine and ten, who was struggling with this real-life situation at the time too. It came close to real life. In many ways this also explains the huge success of the show. You had these six friends, off-screen too, and adding that bit of realism to it. It was kind of obvious that neither he or anyone else on the cast were uncomfortable with the sudden fame. It came to ruin private relationships and led to bad habits such as wasting money, alcoholism, drugs and smoking. They never expected this and the fake news media gave them a hard time without a doubt. I read that David recently had a role as playing the lawyer of OJ Simpson in a Netflix remake of the infamous murder case in 1994. I hope too that David still has an aspiring future in theatre and filming production, including as an actor.

The rest of the cast, especially Courtney Cox and Matthew Perry love to talk about the show and their characters in a "desperate" way almost, asking for attention, trying to BE their characters. You hardly find any "David Schwimmer on friends" videos on youtube and the few ones out there are short clips of little comments he makes, nothing more.

I don't know who this interviewer is but this is difficult to watch. He seems to be projecting strange, outdated ideas onto Schwimmer. The way he subtly assumes that his parents would not have approved of his path in some way because of their own career choices is so frustrating. Lots of comments/questions seem to have an element of degradation that comes across as judgemental. Also, interviewers that talk over the answers they have asked for drives me crazy. Schwimmer conducts himself in such a wonderful way though.

I just thought of something: Imagine if a foreign television network decides to make their own version of FRIENDS, like say Russia or Japan just to name a couple. Some of you may know that the Russians already made their own version of Phil Rosenthal's "Everybody Loves Raymond" and Rosenthal produced a documentary movie titled "Exporting Raymond" which is available on iTunes and hopefully also on Google Play. I'm not talking about just plain language translation. I am talking about producing an entire series in another nation state like Russia, Japan, or China, or India, etcetera and them doing it in a way that would appeal to the masses in their nation(s).
