Again this is great. Manafon didn't do it for me, but this does. I find it so interesting that now I find the voice so powerful again. Great stuff, thanking you

just hearing this for the first time. STUNNING. what a beautiful piece of work. While David's own version will always be there, when someone talented (YOU) reinterprets the work in this way, it is a very very worthy addition to David's pantheon. I adore this. Well done.

Had a listen to all of these...they are brilliant Modesto! They make a fantastic playlist...beautiful reinterpretations of the originals (which were generally quite a difficult/harsh listen...). You should try to get these released officially by DS!

There's a man down in the valley Who doesn't speak in his own tongue He bears a grudge against the English The tune to which his songs are sung There's a man down in the valley Who is moving back in time It's a physical ascension You can watch him as he climbs The farmer's wives are at their windows They've seen him wind his way for hours They tell the kids to lower their voices And pretend that they are out There's a man down in the valley Trying to stop time in its tracks His boots lie heavy on the grasses But it keeps on pushing back And his wife she was a painter But now she stains the altar black He's out bird watching on the islands And she wishes he'd come back There's a man down in the valley And he dreams of moving west Of battles raged against the furies That might see him at his best There's a man down in the valley Don't know his right foot from his left Don't know his right foot from his left

this is SO great Modesto Muñiz .... Does David actually knows what you are doing with his great voice (without melody)?
@jeanrenard68886 жыл бұрын
I'am sure David had a melody line in his head.....when he 'sang' this.....

i would like to know what sylvian is thinking about this. normally an artist doesn't like when people change his music. if their music is avantgarde this means maybe that they dont want everybody to follow it. with these remixes it becomes more popular but also more boring .
@teamblade59728 жыл бұрын
+Nikolaus Hirschmann so far I never heard any "boring" Modesto Muñiz ' remixes of Sylvian's songs. :-) I understand what you are saying but if it was Sylvian's intention to reduce his followership by releasing pieces that take avantgarde, improv, experimental and ambient to the bearable limit then he has done a great job. I have been around since 1978, when I was a little kid, and I grew up with his art, I own and highly appreciate ALL his work, whether it is written, spoken, sung, played or photographed, easy to digest or not, but just like he does not owe his followers anything I, as follower, do not owe him anything, either - in other words, if I cannot connect to a piece, if it does not communicate with me (or only the words, not the aspects carrying them) and if, even after trying for the umpteenth time to find the door that grants access to the specific work, I do not "get in", well, then I let it be and move on which may indeed be a different direction than the artist is going in that very moment. This is not to say that the journey is over (in fact, so far there has always been a joint trail again, otherwise I would not be around for almost 40 years). But in the meantime I do enjoy a remix like this.
@crystallynnmcdonald21038 жыл бұрын
+Lisa Maxstadt Thank you for expressing so well exactly the way that I also feel with regards to David's more recent work. I too have tried umpteen times to "get in" and have also had to let it be. Modesto's remixes work for me.
@teamblade59728 жыл бұрын
+Crystal McDonald thank you for *not* misinterpreting my words as some "bad fan vs good fan" thing. :-) I do hope that David will continue to write and release art, and "Do You Know Me Now?" (one of my absolute favorites) is just an example of how versatile and multilayered he is.
@delevinemedia7147 жыл бұрын
I think if David were unhappy with the remixes, it would be pretty easy to file a copyright complaint and have them removed. From this we must infer that he is OK with "fan art" as little homages between fans, or perhaps as interpretations that might bring more people to his work.

) sorry...my english isn't good enouht to tell, what i have to. ;)
