I was at this concert. I flew from Hong Kong to Tokyo just to enjoy the event at Showa Women's University. My first Sylvian show ever. A great night.

i just don't get how people can hate david...he wasn't the best man in Japan's days but so much time passed already. I'm completely mesmerized by his voice and music. for me there are only two music geniuses - sylvian and bowie.
@EnnuiOn3 жыл бұрын
I think many hate him because they loved him and Japan first, and David is sort of dismissive of his work with the band which obviously does not sit well with the Japan fans. And that's understandable because the guy created some stellar stuff with Japan only to have it broken up at their career's peak, but as he has said in many interviews, the pop star fame was just not for him and he (and the others too, to some degree) was artistically limited while working with the band. The kind of music he wanted to make could not be made with Japan, which was a band made to sensationalize the media and the commercial scene. And then there were the personal tensions between him and Karn, ofc. Its tragic that it happened but the break up was inevitable. But I fucking love his solo works and I agree, he sort of is a musical genius.

It’s interesting how Sylvian has simplified his music almost to the point of blandness these last few years, his voice is still magical and it’s obviously an incredibly subjective point of view but I do wish he would steer his ship in a different direction to newer horizons. Interesting how Steve has taken up the mantle with Exit North. Still a great admirer though:)

Bono? David Beckham? Not sure but judging from the looks of the 'drummer' (Steve Jansen?), I'd say the milkman who used to deliver to Jah Wobble's childhood home had at least one other receptive lady customer on his round.

You pick up only new borns. Only children. That's what I'm questioning about. Why, only, new born children? The time has come and there are so many elderly people, why you guys, not you only but, focus on only new born babies?

Prescient. If Sylvian can advance past preaching to songs he would be beyond Dylan.

How do you advance past something that isn't representative of your music? Sylvian's body of work can hardly be defined as preaching songs.
