This guy is a reminder why technique is more important than brute strength. Although having weight classes does make strength less relevant-the scale doesn’t the difference between 140 lbs of fat and 140 lbs of muscle-Taylor manhandled his opponent through pure technique and leverage. His length also played a major part. Despite that, his competitor got taken down way too easily. I’ve seen many average wrestlers put up a fight and not just get run over out of pure will.

That was a pin, not a tech fall, lol. When the ref slams his hand on the mat after the opponent's shoulders blades are pinned down, that is a pin. A tech fall comes when you have a 15 point lead or more and the match is stopped as a result. Nevertheless, World Champion in his beginnings, Magic Man is a beast and a hard worker that loves this sport.
@baby4x5 жыл бұрын
its called a tech pin, when the turn that you are doing is already going to tech them but then you pin them it anyways.
@slickwilly96845 жыл бұрын
@@baby4x Unless the rules about pins and techs have changed over the years (which I'm sure they haven't) a tech is a tech and a pin is a pin. There's a reason why even when wrestlers that are about to win via tech fall will try and finish it with a pin if the opponent happens to be on their back. When you score a fall the team points will show that, when you score a tech, the score will reflect that. Not saying you're wrong, but maybe a tech pin is some lingo that is regional.

slickwilly9684 yes, I’ve wrestled all across the country and now coach in Ct. the term Techpin has been around since my high school time 88-91. But who knows, maybe where you lived it wasn’t a thing.? I believe in the video however he is using the term tech MAUL..? he’s just trying to be funny referring to the mauling Taylor gave him on his way to the pin..

He was up 12-1, I believe. He chose top, obviously because he’s an animal in that position, but it’s also less work as two turns would at least give him a tech fall.

I mean more than likely most HS wrestlers would probably get teched by DT but idk just looking at this guy’s fundamentals he didn’t look too solid. His bottom game was pretty bad.
