My friends and I saw David at Disneyland with his family. For a second we were going to engage, but seeing him with his kids made us stop. "Let's just let them have fun at Disneyland." One of us said. It was a magic moment, like a hunter seeing a Unicorn and just letting it go because it was too beautiful.
@frizzlethecat20845 жыл бұрын
" It was a magic moment, like a hunter seeing a Unicorn and just letting it go because it was too beautiful." I think that's a very apt and beautiful way of putting it. The unicorn (or DT in this case) is something to cherish, to keep safe and the fact that it exists alone makes the encounter a wonderful moment. At least for me. I don't need validation by having a piece of paper with a name on it, or a shifty picture on my phone. I sometimes think the best imaginable encounter with DT would be if I could... I don't know, do something nice for him, like open a door or pick something up he dropped and just NOT react to him being David Tennant. I might grin like a lunatic, but... yeah. Be nice. Just that. (if it would lead to him feeling good about it, too, I'd be on the moon) I've seen actors (small-time, but still known on national television) and not reacted apart from watching them be just normal humans (waiting for a train, looking into shop-windows), so I'm fairly confident I woudl not turn into a crazy fanperson. Once I saw Sting at a museum, and a schoolmate went over and asked if he were Sting (he said "no", but ... yeah, it was ), and I wanted to die from shame. There's someone out wanting to see pictures, or see a show or be out with their kids just... let them enjoy that! Don't bother them. Memorize the moment in your mind, it'll never go away! Just be nice!

When I lived in L.A., my relatives told me that you ignore the celebrities. No one wants to be bothered if they need to run into the store for 2 items about whatever movie they've done...show they finished. When they aren't in character, out there on the streets of L.A. (and I imagine New York, Toronto, London yesus, we all know better) then you don't see them unless they speak to you first & that's not allowing for creepy staring.

I have on occasion wanted to chuck a brick through the tv screen when the interviewer is talking over the guest but never wanted to do that with Norton. If I were to meet an actor at the stage door of a theatre or I happened to be passing a film location, I'd feel fine to go say hello - that's a professional situation. But even so, be polite and remember they are at their workplace so will be busy. If I happened upon a celebrity in a restaurant, shop, street etc., - that's their private time so I'd just smile to let them know I'd clocked them and move on.
@ScreamingTc5 жыл бұрын
Be polite and use your common sense. Ask yourself if this is the appropriate time and place to say hi, and if they haven't got time to stop and chat don't take it personally. The chances are they probably do have somewhere they need to be, just like anyone with a job there'll be demands on their time. If you find yourself tongue tied, then just admit it and apologise; most people will be gracious and appreciate the honesty and will try to put you at ease. Don't gush too hard about their entire career, but maybe pick out a few personal highlights to compliment them on: The entire point is to keep it light, casual and undemanding so they don't feel like they're deer caught in the headlights of a speeding car. Then ask them for a photo or an autograph if you feel the need, but again don't expect it, thank them for their time and then wish them a good time. Then proceed to walk off, with a smile on your lips and a bounce in your step for the rest of the day.

I loved David Tennant as the Doctor. I saw another comment on here that voices it perfectly, his Doctor is so good at getting emotions out of you. He encapsulates the feelings so well through tone and word choice and body language and facial expressions. Not only that, but he was a funny yet "darker" Doctor. What comes to mind is Planet of the Ood when the president or whoever turned into one. He jumped on how he was deceived and even gave him a taunt or two, but by the end it was a grimace and nothing else. Stuff goes on in the universe, and some are more deserving than others, at least that's how I'd put it. And he sets that so well. He's the only Doctor I re-watch. Amazing actor, amazing man.

I thought it was funny when he says "I'd like to know what the disguises are like", as if David was going to tell him.

these are great interviews. not just for entertainment but getting to know the 'celebrity' more.

David is definitely the best Doctor for me, and how I understood from people he is probably the most likable Doctor for others as well, he just has some sympathy, and he seems the most human-being alien in the show, which is a paradox, but it is what people love in him.

Doctor Who just has a warm feeling about it. I remember that feeling.

That moment he talks about, when a celebrity walks in a place... I grew up in a town full of celebrities. I worked at places where they came in often. Two examples. I was in my first week at a health food store as a clerk when Dennis Miller walked in. It was pretty empty in the store. I wasn't a fan or anything, but there's a moment where you recognize the person, and I felt that look cross my face, and he saw it too, and the biggest, ugliest scowl I ever saw crossed his face. I remember thinking "What's his problem?" And I went up and treated him like any customer, asked if I could help him, and he said he was looking for a vitamin, "Nature" something. (Remember, it was my first week, and this was a vitamin store, so basically 90% of the brands had that in the name.) So I took a second to think, him scowling and dripping derision, and I said "Oh, okay, I believe that's ove..." And he cut me off and snapped "Oh never mind, I'll find it myself!" and stormed off. In other stores where I worked, clerks would argue over whose turn it was to help him. Oh, but he was always sweet as pie to the big bosses. Okay, second story. I'm working at a big name bookstore (best job, damn I miss bookstores) and I'm walking down the steps to my section and I see John Cleese. I know my jaw dropped, and my eyes probably got huge, but he just looked at me calmly and smiled and I smiled back, asked if I could help him, and did to find an encyclopedia. And you know what? There was no celebrity attitude at ALL, it was like helping a friend's Dad. He came in a couple other times with his lovely wife. Nicest guy. I'm not sure my point is coming across, but I think it is basically this: Tennant playfully acts like he has a little attitude, but we know he would just be super nice to a clerk, let alone a fan. It's not all about HIM. I don't think it's factor of where one is, because other American Celebrities fell somewhere in between, one even taking time to encourage and comfort me after I'd been crying after a job review with one if those bosses who only said positive things because they had to....oh, what was that guy's name, he was on a show where he played a vampire cop. Ah yes, "Forever Knight!" Geraint Wyn Davies! Huh, he's Welsh, but he had no accent. Kathy Ireland was nice too. And I KNOW the cast of Supernatural is amazing to fans. Um...Okay, I'm sick and lost the thread of this post. Anyway, sorry if I bored you.

It wasn't boring, it was very interesting and it felt as if you were really telling me the story in person by the way you wrote your comment. I like it.
