I have always thought that they kept Tyson away from Tua because he would have kayoed Tyson. Styles make fights and with Tyson's straight up style he would have been easy picking for Tua. Mike would take Tua in the early rounds but once the later rounds came Tua would have wore down Tyson and knocked his head off with one of those left hooks.
