Saturday's first fight show at Comicpalooza with Full Steel Combat! Got a David and Goliath going here and some good matchups with some gold medalist and some others.
Which was your favorite fight?
For those who don't know the sport is called buhurt or armored combat. It's full steel, full contact and minimal rules to make sure we have necks and knees when we go home. The event is at Comicpalooza, the largest comic-con in Texas!

It really depends on the hit, the person, and the weapon. They can hurt really bad but armor does it’s job a lot.

A blow to the helmet is pretty weird, they're pretty snug but it can still dent the helm or rock your world. Honestly i'd be more worried about hits from the larger weapons like a halberd to your hand/wrist or getting your feet stomped on.

The answer, A lot less than taking a blunt halbard direct to the body, but a lot more than not getting hit by a halbard to start with.

Daggum "testicular difficulties." Definitely don't need all them dangly bits coming loose on ya in a fight. Wrap 'em up and keep' em tight! Looks like y'all had a much more forgiving surface to work on this year. Not slipping across straight up concrete like ice skaters. Big Man Sir Gregor hung in there a long time with Arlon. His conditioning has noticeably improved if he can hang with Mr. Energizer Bunny. All in all, I see or at least I pick up on more varied moves this year over last year. Maybe I'm just paying more attention, but it seems like you guys are mixing it up more now. That means better conditioning and endurance all around, plus improved technique. This is quality entertainment. 👌

Curious, how was your messer? made? Big sad seeing it break at the hilt there. Then you are handed a small axe to fight a large opponent with a halberd lol. But you got him down! Good job. Also, how many broken bones, bruises, and head injuries occur in this sport? Looks like it could get quite painful, but I'm not sure how much y'all feel with all that armor and padding on. Any illegal target areas? like back of head, back of thigh/leg?

That one was Arlon but his sword is done for. It can be very painful at times, super tiring too. We can’t hit feet, back of knees, vertical on spine, crotch, or base of neck.

The league fee is only $50 and that’s all you need to start. A starter armor kit will run $2,500-3,000 but you don’t need it at first.

Weapons usually at least sting/pressure, but a lot of the time yeah it hurt, it can break bones and all just depends on the person and the weapon. Once you're used to the weight not so much, but mines about 90lbs with the helmet so I mean doing the same 90lbs lighter is easier.

I've always been curious if i could do this sport seeing as im 6'6 350lbs and this video answered that question! Would I have to find someone that makes sizes for large people or do most armorers accomodate large sizes?

all if not the grand majority of armors for this sports are made to fit, if you are particularly huge it may cost a bit more than a little guy's armor, but generally the most expensive part is the work, not the material, im sure you'll be able to get someone to make an armor for you, shouldnt be hard tho, good luck, and if you ever do, have fun

If the point is to get your opponent on the ground what is even the point of bringing a weapon? My guess would to just hurt your opponent to weaken him, but it really seems like it does nothing.

Armor does it’s job, but it hurts man, really bad sometimes. Can barely lift my arm today 😂. But that is the goal, pain compliance. Sometimes you can drop someone from it but that’s hard.
