This is how easily a person can be deceived. He asks if he could be a false teacher, half joking, but he really is a false teacher. He does not trust in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. He trusts in what he thinks he can do for God, ( repent and obey) when truly its rest and trust in what our God has done for us!

I perceive in my spirit that you teach the truth and that you are passionate about the truth. I don't think you were boasting about your ministry to the poor. Thank you sir, for your godly, Christ-like example.

Thumbs up. Judge by the fruit. Character. Could I trust the pastor/ teacher that teaches pre tribulation? Isn’t it so obvious that requires incredible twisting of the Scripture?

How do you spot a false teacher? 2 Peter 2:1-3 NIV guides us: They (false teachers): 1. Deny the sovereign Lord. They act their own gods. 2. Disrepute the truth. (make Scipture low-value. As if their minds are better) 3. Devise stories (invent stuffs with their finesse imagination).

There is probably a sliding scale of those who make an error in teaching at one end and those are would be called false teachers at the other end. Jesus identifies people who are more likely to be telling actual truth from God in John 5:30: "By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me." Motivation of a teacher seems to be related to whether someone is a false teacher or not. One of the first things I look for is "are they asking for money?" Teachings should not cost money to people even if voluntary asking. That is not to say that the leadership of a local assembly should not get together and compensate those who are in full time ministry.

I don't see anything wrong with church offerings I reckon the money that church members are freely to give can go towards church bills such as power and other things the church may need.

But it says it not by your works but by the grace of Jesus Christ that you are saved if we have to be more righteous than the Pharisees wouldn't make that statement obsolete because that would imply that you have to be good to a certain degree?
@JonathanGrandt6 жыл бұрын
THEWHITEWOLF816 well no because first of all in the immediate context Jesus is saying you need to be more righteous than they were presently... and the psalm tells us that there is only One Who May ascend the hill of the Lord. He who has clean hands and a pure heart. Also the righteousness that He is talkin about relates to belief in Christ. That’s where it all starts. Believing on the Lord Jesus Christ takes you in with Him positionally as one who has clean hands and a pure heart before God and does not lift his soul to any idol. I don’t know if I expressed that clearly but this is how I understand it. I am open to correction from the Word.

It is commendable that you recognize the contradiction of those two statements as most Christians never see it or just ignore it, but they are complete opposites. And the only way you can make any sense out of the bible once you recognize this is to learn to "rightly divide the word of truth". Know who the verse is for or its being spoken to. We Americans think everything must be about us but it isn't.

No, because the full context is like that: "For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life." God saves you and sends you 'on a mission' of doing good things for others. Faith without works is dead. Pharisees were super self-centred. They did all the rituals, prayed, fasted, FOR THEMSELVES. They didn't care about the poor, the sick, widows, orphans, people with problems... they contempted them. Yet they believed that the fact they are soooo religious (or rather legalistic) guarantees that God finds them perfect in His eyes. And Jesus exposed it. They wanted God's blessing for themselves, and didn't care about others. That's why they were so furious that Jesus healed and delivered suffering ones and that He spent time with sinners. Our role is to want God's blessing for everyone, our enemies included. God wants us to take care of others, help them, pray for them, support them... . These are things Pharisees et al. didn't do.

Believing that a Mormon or Devout Catholic can be saved thru their good works would definitely be an indicator of a False Teacher and someone who doesn't know Jesus our Lord.

I'm a Roman Catholic and let me clarify one thing once and forever. We are saved this way ----> "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast." We believe we are saved as it is described. Good deeds prove our faith is not dead and they are the deeds God wants us to do. They are fruits of our faith. I have no idea why people believe that we, Catholics, claim that are saved by our good deeds. It would be unbiblical! Unbelievers may do good things, too, yet without God's grace, their deeds won't "save" them. On the contrary, someone may be a devout churchgoer, who is so selfish, that he/she never does anything good for others. Such person's faith is dead. Will it "save" them? Love expresses itself by active actions. So we need God's grace which will transform us into people, who actively express love, compassion, justice, mercy towards others. Faith fruitful in good deeds saves.

Huge difference between making a living off the gospel and making a not dying off the gospel. Haha weird way to put it I know... but today we have equated “making a living off the gospel” with living the good lavish life off of teaching weekly Sunday school as opposed to a missionary apostle having material things shared with him for his labors for God and His Body. Face palm.

First clue is anyone who is preaching tithing as a NT teaching - run from them! Because cheerful giving is the rule we are to follow. The OT taught that it took 10 men to begin a synagogue therefore 1/10 made it equal; whereas having of hundreds of members might only be less than 1% - but even that is not required for us. Our giving is to support the poor, naked, hungry & the ministry - not the pastor's personal jet plane and multi million dollar house(s).
