In Canada, is it possible to get bank/bdc financing with only the target business cashflows/assets being pledged as collateral? Or do they need a guarantee from another source like an operating business/personal guarantee?

Depends on the deal, but I’ve never heard of any bank willing to lend anyone any money without a personal guarantee. Pure corporate credit is something for companies much bigger than what I discuss on this channel. If the business has $2-5m in revenue, it might qualify for a corporate Amex program with a $25-50K limit. That’s probably the most accessible corporate credit outside of some equipment leasing offers.
