I read the whole Dreadful Truth and I feel like it’s my duty to point out all the best parts: 1. The vast majority of the Japanese scientists have western names. 2. The formatting is horrible, it’s like Tyler kept pressing the enter key in the middle of a sentence. It’s very jarring. 3. The book goes out of its way to explain how gangsters could bring weapons onto a plane without being detected, yet doesn’t consider that they’d probably be rejected anyway because they’re trying to enter a country THAT DECLARED WAR ON THE UNTIED STATES. This guy really thought he could tell a story about a conflict between US and Japanese groups in the 40s and not bring up WW2. 4. There are multiple grammatical errors. My favorite is whenever he spells “panic”, he adds a “k” at the end. This book was not proof read at all. 5. There’s an entire chapter where Alison hacks into the computer system of the Japanese facility all the way from America. This is still in the 40s. Alan Turning just invented the first mechanical computer and this mob boss already has access to the internet. 6. There’s numerous random details that just aren’t explained. Why are the robots with the souls of the cancer patient furries? Why is Gron referred to as a jester? Why is Alison referred to as “the narrator” in chapter 2 but never again? It’s not explained, you’re just supposed to accept it. This book is 90% exposition but screw you if you want to know why Gron is a Jester. 7. Cwathon Cotts is the only person who is referred to by his full name. 8. A group of teens decide to break into a location built in the early 40s to steal animontronics and it doesn’t cross anyones mind to protect themselves from asbestos. This isn’t a plot hole but it is very funny. Edit: I forgot the best one! The day after Gron's wife dies and his youngest child is taken away for no reason (still all in the 40s), he comes to work depressed and so one of his co-workers asks if he wants an Advil. Advil is a brand of Ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is a drug that would not exist for nearly twenty years. This man choose a very specific time in history for his story to take place and then refused to do any research into that period. Half the plot holes and contrivances in this book could have been avoided if he had just googled stuff like "when was Advil invented", "when was the internet created", "how does cancer work", "what was Japan like in the 1940s". The Lord of the Rings is unironically more devoted to historical accuracy.

So I’ve been studying Japanese for about a year now. “Gilbert” is probably one of the least Japanese names imaginable. Having consecutive consonants in a word is fairly rare due to most of their characters being composed of consonant-vowel pairs (て is “te”, な is “na”, ほ is “ho”, etc.). There are a few exceptions though (if your word contains the ん、つ、ち、which are “n”, “tsu”, and “chi”, and sometimes vowel sounds are omitted in certain readings of other characters like す、”su”, depending on the word). Not only that, but the “er” sound in the “bert” portion of the word is also not found native to Japanese words. If you wanted to say “Gilbert” in Japanese, it would be written in katakana like so: ギルバート, which when romanized is “Girubaato”. Like I said, not native to Japanese whatsoever, which is strange considering the facility was made in Japan, but then again maybe I’m not fully embraced in TRTF’s glory.

For what it's worth, virus total isn't the best souce of checking a file unless you understand the site very well. Your screenshot of "this is most certainly a virus" shows a couple of the very low level AVs not agreeing on what it is, with 3 just throwing a generic listing out. Clipbanker, which is mentioned by name by the remaining 2, doesn't throw out music, it just silently runs in the background and monitors/maniplates your clipboard to steal banking info. Playing music right after installing would generally entirely defeat the point. The "name not avalible" in sound mixer is actually generally pretty common and isn't normally a sign of anything bad. It's just windows being funky. I've had a discord process be broken like that in sound mixer. tldr; just because a couple things flag a file as malicious in virus total, that doesn't mean it 100% is malicious. Source: I'm in cyber security with a focus on malware analysis :)

The locker is still very much Freddy mask but the steam release mechanic (which is how you were supposed to deal with some of the animatronics as they passed by the office, I think the lever for it was on the other side of the screen) is kinda neat, but then you broke it anyways lMaO Also at 20:31, do I see a Starbound character sprite??? I was able to get my hands on the TRTF 1 .mfa file, I can now explain while you kept dying to the Puppet in TRTF 1: This is the most idiotic thing yet, and that is how the mask "functions". I think you're all aware of this funny thing where an animatronic can seemingly bypass the mask even if you put it on time and the "put the mask only one at a time" line from phone guy. So oh boy, let's get into this. Remember the animatronic movement timer? It's also responsible for every time an animatronic is in the office. Meaning it's scripted. For our example, let's say we have values of 24, 56 and 77 for different animatronics being in the office. In the internal game logic, these values always come in order. The mask also has a timer. It increases by 1 each time you put it on. So what the game does is check for the mask timer compared to the animatronic movement timer. At value 24 which in our example is the first animatronic being in the office, in order for the mask to work, its timer should be 1 (since it gets from 0 to 1 when you first put it on). On animatronic movement timer of 56, the second animatronic in the office, the mask timer should be 2 in order for it to work. So essentially, if you put the mask more times than intended, you'll mess up the eternal specific values and lose no matter what. I can't even begin to explain how retarded this system is. That's what the phone guy means by "one at a time", meaning you can only put the mask on for one animatronic in the office at a time. But you can still accidentally mess it up because the mask button can pull off the mask even when an animatronic is in the office...
