If you want privacy, don't use a cell phone. It is straightforward. Every OS can be hacked, so don't believe people who say you are safe just because you use this OS. You might be 5% to 10% safer, but nothing is 100% secure.

I wanted a Linux phone but the only one available was not very good (Pine Phone), The Pixel 8 is the least expensive phone that will run Graphene OS but is still £300 in the UK. And then there is the Librem 5 that runs Pure OS but only has 3GB of RAM which was OK in 2010 but will run like a slug with today's browsers and apps. If no Linux phone is forthcoming by 2026 I will buy a Pixel with Graphene OS.

Its funny you ask that. Bank of America works for me on GrapheneOS, but Capital One opens and then immediately closes. When I reported it to them with a video of it happening they said they haven't seen it before. That was a year and a half ago, still, no fix. Are banking apps known not to work?

I miss other alternatives in this video. e/OS is an alternative that is available for a broader range of phone and Lineageos should also be considered. There should also be a thougt of how much work that is worth put into it. Minimise installed app to just have those you use daily is another step.

This was a strange one. For me it launched straight into a Brockwell monologue, I had to keep checking that it actually was your channel…I want more information on privacy, but I never feel that she actually knows what she’s talking about. (I’ve even bought her book). And there always comes a point for me when I can no longer tolerate her voice…at least she only mentioned dahtah once before I gave up. Sorry if all that seems negative, just giving feedback. The subject matter is really important, I just didn’t enjoy the video.

/e/ OS seems to be the most compatible and private as it's based on ElementOS, but it's not without its quirks. I wish they would maybe work on porting GrapheneOS' playstore sandboxing to their OS as it seems more robust than microG services which feels a bit more hacky.

Completely overblown. It starts with a user accidentally invoking Siri for a start. Well sure, if you invoke a server side service them obviously data will be sent to service that request. Nothing was proven in how Apple uses this data - no proof whatsoever. And this was reflected in the verdict. This is a world away from Google and Facebook which has a core business model of tracking every conceivable thing you do. The business model of Apple vs Google are world's apart.

Not a fan of Graphyne generally. Potential alternatives: Lineage, Iode, CalyxOS. Certainly not signal because it requires registering a phone number; maybe Sessions. All of it has issues when it comes to tracking, as others stated SIM, IMIE, MAC address tracking etc.

The problem with GraphineOS is its only supported by Google Pixel. Hardware being compromised right from the start. Then again, it really doesn't matter since the SIM can be tracked/cracked.
