Lyrics:
Ground Control to Major Tom
Ground Control to Major Tom
Take your protein pills
and put your helmet on
Ground Control to Major Tom
Commencing countdown,
engines on
Check ignition
and may God's love be with you
Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five, Four, Three, Two, One, Liftoff
This is Ground Control
to Major Tom
You've really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule
if you dare
This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating
in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today
For here
Am I sitting in a tin can
Far above the world
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do
Though I'm past
one hundred thousand miles
I'm feeling very still
And I think my spaceship knows which way to go
Tell my wife I love her very much
she knows
Ground Control to Major Tom
Your circuit's dead,
there's something wrong
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you hear me, Major Tom?
Can you....
Here am I floating
round my tin can
Far above the Moon
Planet Earth is blue
And there's nothing I can do
About David Bowie:
David Bowie redefined musical genres and the potential of live performance for generations of music lovers. Creating and discarding a variety of personae and restlessly challenging musical boundaries, Bowie released timeless albums including Space Oddity, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust…, Aladdin Sane, Diamond Dogs, Young Americans, Station to Station, "Heroes,” Let's Dance, Heathen, The Next Day and many more. Blackstar, Bowie’s 28th and final studio album, was released on his 69th birthday, January 8, 2016. David Bowie died on January 10, 2016, two days after the release of Blackstar. His body of work, his influence on the worlds of music, art, fashion, film, theatre and beyond, and his legacy of innovation and reinvention will live forever. 2022 kicks off with Bowie at 75, a celebration of his 75th birthday with the Brilliant Adventure box set, the previously unreleased Toy, the 50th anniversary of Ziggy Stardust and a series of special events.

N Q, I wonder what he means when he sings that line. "Tell my wife I lover her very much, she knows" Does he mean "she knows" he is gay? Or does he mean, "she knows" I love her? Any thoughts on that anyone? Dusty the 2nd.

He actually took a song and made it sound and feel like an astronaut who's floating helplessly through the void of space into nothingness, and at the same time, somehow made it a perfect metaphor for every day life. What an amazing piece of art.

He was one of a kind! Each and everyone of his songs he sang sounded totally different from the others. He was absolutely a true artist in every sense of the word. A musical genius. He wrote the song ( The Man Who Sold The World ), which Curt Cobain sang beautifully, on Nirvana‘s unplugged album. What a wonderfully talented man David Bowie was we will never have another one like him.

Same! i asked precisely "What song would you play after the last human being passes away on earth?" and got "That's a haunting thought. The choice of a song would depend on the sentiment or feeling one would want to convey in that moment. Some might choose something reflective or melancholic, like "Space Oddity" by David Bowie." This was one of my Grandpa Sue’s favorite songs. He was shot at a gas station, i never really knew him. I wish i knew him more.

My navy buddy turned me on to Bouy ( his pronunciation), bout summer of 76...then our ship went from our California home port, to Seattle WA for a couple months,,,& we went to see Bob Seger not far from the Space Needle there, & the poster at the ticket window said Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet band, 7 pm-10 pm...& we talked about it showing no opening act...thought Nothing of it...Party Forward...Then Bob wrapped up around 9:30 with a short Encore song...So Bob announced " Don't go anywhere folks...Please welcome Mr. David Bowie stage left"!!! He busted out with Diamond Dogs, & we about fell out on the floor!!! What a pleasing surprise!!! He must of played until midnight...all for $6.00!!! Never forget it ...I was 18 years old😅
