I saw David Bowie 3 times. '91, '97 and '04. The last song of the encore in '04 was ZIGGY STARDUST. The band came to the front of the stage after it ended and took their bows with the man. He smiled and waived at us as the ovation got louder and louder. I turned away and ran up the stairs to beat the crowd.That was the last time I saw him.

In the 1980s I was the weird kid in school, I spent lunchtime talking to the Dinnerladies, or reading a fantasy novel. In the 90s I found Bowie's back catalogue - having fallen in love watching Labyrinth. In y early twenties I came to understand that I wasn't just the weird kid, I was the queer kid. In my 30's my heart broke, along with millions of others. And our hearts were broken, because throughout his career, Bowie was the artist (and a true artist, at that) that held out is hand to the weird kids, the queer kids, the displaced kids, and he said "come with me, and you'll never be alone". Now in my 40s, I begin trialling medication for ADHD tomorrow, and this video could not have been more perfectly delivered to my subs. Because whilst he doesn't walk amongst us, you can bet he will be holding the hand of this weird, queer, not all here kid as they start out on a new adventure. Thank you Sir, for everything.

Hey if you're a David Bowie fan you should look up The Doublejumps, I think you'll like them
It's been so long since I saw this concert, I've forgotten the impact it had on me, my cousin and a friend. Feb.'73, David brought his Spiders to Nashville, Tn. I was 16. At that time Nash. was just becoming a tour stop for R n' R bands. Come April, I saw my 3rd show, Yes! Watching this clip is a blast. The band is tight and loud. Mick Ronson was damn killer. Bowie had them in the palm of his hand. Take me back, sweet, sweet Rock n' Roll...

As was once said, There’s Old wave and there’s new wave and there’s David Bowie, many tried to copy him but didn’t even come close. I was so lucky that I got to see him 35 times live and briefly met him twice. I will leave you all with one thought, if you sit down and listen to the studio album Ziggy Stardust it is hard to imagine but he recorded that album in one take, every song on there that you hear was exactly how it was on the day. So let’s do 5 years first, yep done and on to the next. I am quite biased I will admit but to me there will never be another Bowie, and the influence he had on so many bands was quite incredible, the good thing is he will live on forever through his music.⚡️⚡️⚡️

@monty67 Жыл бұрын
