For those asking? Part of this demonstration was to show ease of cleanup as well as cook and clean up in the skillet raw with no grease or seasoning and again ease of cleaning. Long way around the meal but important

Dave, I learned when I was very young that if you cover the bottom of the skillet with water and get it hot before putting your bacon in the water will boil off as the grease is released from the bacon, that way the bacon won't stick to the pan.

That is true for sure

A day without Dave cooking is a day without a campfire. That's a two burner, campfire, too! Priceless! Thanks Dave. Skillet

Dave, love your cook sets. I am going to invest in your skillets, your 3Qt pot set complete, a propane cooker. You are the first person I know that has made a purpose built camping cook set for 1 to 4 people. We used your same basic principle when we camped way back in the late 60's or early 70's, however we had to do it with regular kitchen pans & skillets and get them as close as possible to nest as good as we can get it. My Dad made a set of tripods back about 1970, this tripod cooking system is great. It is bomb proof, it folds open allowing you to set the pot anywhere from about 4" off the ground to 3.5' in the air. It makes cooking because you never look for string to hold them together or to raise and lower the pot. We will be taking our dogs & grandson camping this summer so we will be using your camp set to cook in for us all. Thanks for doing what you do.

I was shown that blanket method when I was a youth, we were sleeping in a cabin and i complained that my feet were cold. My dad showed me how to pin the blanket up so there was a pocket for my feet (I pin it square at the bottom rather than tie it I like room to move my feet), he also said to change into dry socks and underwear and to bring the socks and underwear I was going to wear in the morning.

Love the tarp/tent/cover! And absolutely love the bedroll! I NEED your PF Mattress! Unfortunately, lost my job. So I NEED all kinds of things at the moment! ( prayers are accepted!) And foot box hack is great... my feet cramp if I don't have a box!

Afternoon Dave! Just wanted to say thanks for always taking the time to upload videos, it’s appreciated by a lot of us common folk! You are doing a lot of things right!! Certain individuals who are intimidated by you, talk bad about you, with hopes that others won’t find you so appealing. We salute you!!

Interesting shelter. That carbon steel skillet was a homerun! (love mine). I used the Forresters Quilt lined with a wool blanket for a hammock underquilt this weekend and was comfortable at 38°. I appreciate all the tips and tricks as well as all that Pathfinder gear. Hangcon weather was definitely bi-polar, cold, warm, wet and cool, etc..... LOL.

Leftover boiled potatoes make excellent fried potatoes. They are often in large chunks. Rather than sled time preslicing them, put the chunks straight into the frying pan. As they are heating, use a clean tin can (of about soup can size) held upside down, to chop the chunks into smaller sizes as you prefer. Saves time and knife edges. Don’t forget to add onions, or you will have bad luck the rest of the day. 😏 Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

I wouldn't fret any over using a metal spatula or spoon in steel or iron cooking vessels either one. My momma and granny and all the ancestors before them used metal utensils for their cooking needs with no problems. Most of the worry over that non-issue was created by the modern cooking shows on television and likely some online as well. Thanks for the video

Great video! May I recommend a Pacifico or Modelo? Also, love the foot box -- my feet are the first thing to freeze. I would sleep with my head at the back of the tent. If I'm threatened by human or beast, I can get to my firearm faster. Just me.
