This is probably the best survival/bushcraft channel on KZbin. Thanks

Watching the first notch still and just had to mention I figured out that exact technique (batoning in to the straight cut and every thing) as a teen with no one telling me that was the best way. I feel smarter now. thanks Dave.

A few years back I had a pretty decent OOPS to my thumb and the next day I started learning about knife safety and how to properly use one. These are important lessons because it only takes one second to seriously ruin your day.

No "probably" about it. Dave is awesome. Thanks Dave for all the time you take to instruct us. I hope one day to be able to take some of your classes.

Great video that is a good compliment to Bush Craft 101 by Dave. Reading on page 39 for the knee lever I wanted to actually see it being done. Thanks Dave for all you do for the community.

Great, Dave! My daughter and I are about to spend a few days in the great outdoors here in Texas, and she'll be working on these skills with her Mora!!

***** Mora is a brand of knives from Sweden. They're inexpensive and a good starter knife for kids. Although I do not think highly of them as a whole, they are the kind of kind of knives you can buy for about $15 US dollars, then beat the crap out of them and not care what happens to them. I'm making her a new one for Christmas out of 1095 steel that will wipe any memory of a Mora away for her. But for now, that's what she's been learning with.

i like your safety element in you tutorial ,, never can have enough of that ,,,,, i will say ,that the baton you are using is way small compared to the ones i use ,, i use at least a 2inch dia, usually a bit more ,,, i find that less strikes makes for faster cuts ,
