If you haven't read Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, I suggest you do. One of the most important things to carry as a Hitchhiker is a towel. This video is the best example of that idea. Star Trek would learn well from this education. Great video!

No joke dude, I've had mine for over 15 years, still going strong. Never travel or camp without it. invaluable.

One of the best ways I found to use a shemagh to increase warmth, once when stuck out in cold weather with insufficient (Army) issue clothing was to take my shirt off, tie the shemagh around my neck so the majority of it draped down my back. Then put the shirt back on. It is only your back, but it adds a whole extra layer of fluffy. It made a significant difference. Easy to quickly remove if it warms up or you have to get to physical work, just untie the knot and pull it up past your head.

Great video and review. "Hitch hikers' Guide to the Galaxy " says the most useful thing to carry on travels is a towel, shemagh is the bushcraft equivalent. Always have one on (earth or forest green), one in kit and orange blaze in kit.

Great video David! Everyone should have one! Laundry bag in a river, tie 2 sticks to opposite sides at both ends to carry a bundle of wood, strain boiled foods, cover food from flies, and the list goes on!

I bought my three shemaghs in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, for pennies on the dollar. That was in 1986. I still use them to this day in my van. I live and travel throughout the U.S. (nomad). One is in my Go Bag, and the other two became curtains for the rear two door windows. They are held up by magnets. When hiking I used them to filter debris from creek water.

A buddy and I went on went on a three day kayak trip down the Mississippi River a couple years ago, camped out on islands, it was a great time. I brought my shemagh primarily as a sun blocker, ended up using it to sop water out of my kayak in the middle of the river more than once, amazing piece of gear!

I bought some from your store a few years ago. One I gave to my youngest daughter for a christmas present. She really loved it. We had fun looking up videoson how to tie it. This was years ago and I think they were a little bit more than the sale price even then. Still got the others. Think I better pack one or two into my hiking kit .

I carry two cotton handkerchiefs everywhere I go. To the office, to church, everywhere. Part of my ten Cs EDC. Hardest to EDC is the container; A sheet of foil can be made into a cup, wrapped in the handkerchief :-) I’m always wondering if I’m carrying too much gear but it’s quite comfortable and not bulgy so I don’t mind.

It's the coolest piece of kit that I never seem to use. I've carried many, many times over the years and never used it and have never missed it when I didn't have it. It might be that I carry enough other gear to cover most of what the shemagh does: a merino buff, a water filter, a tourniquet, an oversized orange bandana, etc. It might be more handy if I was more of a minimalist.

One thing that I will say is, that I HATE cotton. While I do carry a couple of Bandannas for use as sweat bands, and what have you, when it comes to something this size, I prefer wool, though they're harder to come by. They're great as a scarf, but I've also spent summers doing trail work, with a water soaked Shemagh on, to stay cool and keep sun off my body. It works great, provided you're in a water rich environment.

Seems like a good thing to have but I would be hesitant to use it for much in the winter other than a scarf. Cotton is not ideal in freezing conditions because it can freeze. Kinda like why people tell you not to lay towels out for cats because they will freeze to them if it's cold enough. Otherwise I can see it being very useful.
