thanks Dave, I have no clue on trapping, and don't plan on trapping ever (except snaring, maybe) I always thought those leg hold traps snapped shut on the leg of the animal causing pain, that always turned me off. thanks for all the video's you give us.

Dave- I'm an avid outdoorsman but have always been against these types of traps until now. I appreciate your actions as a responsible outdoorsman. This morning I would have said NO-Way to foot-traps, but you have completely changed my perspective.

Learned a trick that I did not know before setting traps. Foot hold traps are the traps I like the best.

hey dave, I think the rope loop method for setting conibears and even longpring traps would be a good topic to touch on in a future video. I've used it on many traps and in my experience(not much, but some), it's a great method and economical, you just need some strong cord, like paracord. also, adding the replacement safety hooks for conibears works great for longspring traps too, makes it much safer. you just depress each spring separately and safety hook it, just like a big conibear.

I hope you show a dirt hole set...one of the best sets I've ever used. I was lucky...I had world famous Herb Lange teach me how to trap. Ok...maybe not world famous, but this man knows how to trap and I take lessons daily at my local retirement community. I like how you explain the components! Herb made the cover of one of the trapping mags.

I love that Dave, even after getting famous on TV still takes the time to talk with his fans. Although, I must say that the window of opportunity to get a comment back from him has gotten a lot smaller. Then again, back when he had his 'learn together' videos, there wasn't 8k views in 10 minutes. I'll always support Dave and his website because he's done a lot and asked for little. Consider that before you buy on Amazon. Where would you rather see your dollar go?

Great video Dave, showed people that leg holds are very humane way of trapping animals. What people don't know is that studies show that animals don't struggle the whole time they are in leg holds and that they usually damage their claws and teeth when caught in live/cage traps.

Since i watched daves vids i tossed out my snares (never had much luck with them) and instead i pack 4 Vector Rat Traps and a jar of creamy peanut butter squirrels love it, never caught a rabbit in them but im sure if i stuck one on a path with some kind of rabbit food maybe a flower or something might get lucky

Dave can you speak on the animal and how they react when you go back to the trap to check them. How did you let the animals go? Were they feisty or just glad to be let go?

I know they won't break a finger but I had one snap me on the edge of my little finger on a nice frosty winter morning before. I must admit there was a few words coming out of my mouth. I also grew up in south east ohio and am 3rd generation trapper or at least was at one time. (Poor family needed money)Been years but your videos are very helpful and remind me of things I forgot.

I prefer a cage trap, it makes releasing easier if I catch something unintended, plus I don't want to accidentally hurt any of the neighbors pets or kids. That's just my area though. Very good video, with a lot of good information.

This is something I need to get more familiar with. Once SHTF I'll be able to save my ammo for the horde of unprepared people, "zombies", coming out of the cities. If you had to feed a dozen people, and didn't want to slaughter your livestock prematurely, how many of these type traps would you recommend setting out per day to ensure meat to go with garden staples?

You can twist a single wire snare around a branch or something, but how do you attach a thicker cable or Thomson snare to an object? Just wondering.

MBJR-13145p1. Dave, I don't have any experience at trapping, yet; but, for (long-term) survival, would you prefer a Conibear to this sort of trap. I think I recall that you prefer a Conibear to Snaring, for reliability. These seem weightier, are thy more reliable, or simply an alternate option?

i know nothing about trapping so don't snap at me (pun intended) but those are smaller traps and easily burred. is it common practice to place those close to where an underground lure is to promote a catch while they are trying to dig with their paw to get to at the lure? or are these used mainly on the approach to the area where you have the lure.

Would you recommend a foothold trap on a hole under a fence where coyotes are coming through? I'm having trouble with snares and coyotes that have become smart to the snares and moving them over or out of the way but I have not used conibear or foothold traps until this week. Thanks.

Mr. Dave, I teach survival in a special operations group with a AFJROTC corps at my high school. I have taken your basic online courses 1 and 2, and I love and preach your ideology anytime I get a chance. My instructor and I are designing a course for trapping this year.
